Letting go of all but love (am I manic, or did I actually change myself?)

btw, i used to post here as AtomicBono. i dont know if that gives my story anymore validity or if anyone even remembers me, but yea

Letting go of all but love (am I manic, or did I actually change myself?)

hey all - just wanted to end the story. or rather, that chapter of my life. after much reflection, talking with others, and praying, I really came to the conclusion that this feeling could not have come from myself alone, and that God's love had found me. i did something i never thought...

Letting go of all but love (am I manic, or did I actually change myself?)

hello friends I have a story to tell Sorrow found me when I was young...I was diagnosed with depression when I was in fourth grade or so. It comes and goes in phases and sometimes it's a lot worse than others, but I've never felt like I was ever truly over it. It's always just been part of...

    The Post-Rock Thread

i haven't actually heard that EP - i'll have to check it out. i like Satellite Bay, but Avoid the Light is a lot more interesting and emotive to me, and the heavier moments rock more.

    The Post-Rock Thread

i think a lot of post-rock bands do end up sounding kinda the same, but there are some unique ones. i do agree that Explosions and Mogwai have done a lot to define the genre. some i like that i think have their own sound: Cloudkicker - technical post-metal/rock... Beacons is one of my...

Desert Island VIII Master List, Part One

that's probably because it's a song my cousin and i wrote  we don't have a band or anything, we were just messing around with guitar licks and his fancy new recording and sampling equipment. it's kinda disjointed since we wrote it in one night but i thought it was a cool little experiment...

Desert Island VIII Master List, Part Two

agree. i need to catch up on listening to the first list of lists, but i think i'm going to listen to phanan's right now because all that post-rock is perfect studying music. plus Tool and Opeth...all kinds of win

Desert Island VIII Master List, Part One

thanks for the comments, and for being open-minded! yeah, i kinda picked the songs first without any thought to cohesion... i just picked songs i like/have been listening to lately. then i tried to organize them into something coherent. a lot of the transitions i was proud of, but a lot were...

Random Music Talk XXII: GAF, Hitman of Shitty Opening Acts

as much as i hate to change the subject away from cocks ... anyone else in love with crystal castles ii? i just got it a few days ago and it's exactly the kind of dance music i'm into. really excellent stuff, catchy as all get out. makes me want to throw a dance party, right now

Desert Island VIII Master List, Part One

these look awesome. i see songs i like on all the lists so far, and a lot i haven't heard yet. LemonMelon's looks like a party, and i like to party. iron yuppie's starts with one of my favourite songs ever, and it looks like Reggo might appreciate some of the metalz on my list. Screwtape's...

Changing up the set for 2011?

as you point out, the unreleased songs on 360 are possible candidates for a new album. i don't think "We Love You" was ever meant to be on an album... so i don't think it's quite as significant

Growing up and letting go of an old friend

yeah i'm trying to expand my postage. you can note that i have posted in EYKIW, where the album has no name, FYM (a bold move imo), and even PLEBA... right on. i just asked 'cause i go to IU. i love going to a big school, but i only went to college an hour away from home (Indianapolis), so...

    The Club Album - Will.I.Am

:/ BUT POP WAS DONE RIGHT DAMNIT  though it wasn't much of a club album past the first three songs if they are taking inspiration from the vision they had for Pop, i will likely be happy with the result wish they wouldn't trash talk it and/or ignore it though. i understand as an...

Any Pop Songs on 360? Place your bets

if I ever meet Bono I will tell him that I think Pop is a masterpiece and it speaks to me more than any other album and that I wouldn't be a U2 fan without it. and then I might mention how great it was to see them play Gone in 2001 and how much I wish I could have seen Popmart... and maybe...

Changing up the set for 2011?

well i think they played some Pop songs on Elevation tour because Pop was the most recent album besides the one they were promoting, so it might have still been fresh in many people's minds when i talk to people about Pop most haven't even heard of it :p i suppose if your only exposure to it...

HA! adorable. and hilarious yeah i've seen it referred to as "micro-blogging." some people do write a lot, but most people post pictures or small quotes or videos or mp3's. a lot of tumblrs have a theme but some are just stuff the poster likes. i like it 'cause it's super easy and fast...

Who do you think is the sexiest member of U2?

i fell in love with bono when i was young. his was the first voice to truly captivate me. it reaches something in me nothing else does. then you read things he's written or watch him speak and realize how intelligent, compassionate, clever, and vibrant he is. and yes, he's a pretty sexy guy...

    Liberal Arts Education.

well yeah, i'm not saying all college students should be required to take calculus. i think core requirements should be very limited or completely absent, especially since most core reqs are basically high school repeats (as i believe you mentioned). i don't mind the way my school does it so...

Growing up and letting go of an old friend

don't know if you're looking for advice or just venting, but i can say from experience i know somewhat how you're feeling ... i hate losing friends. i'm very dependent on those close to me. i care very deeply for them and in turn expect the same. but i have definitely lost some close friends...

U2's odd stance on the War album.

as others in the thread have said, i don't think Drowning Man would slow down the set any more than the other slower tempo songs they play. perhaps they didn't want to add another slow song but didn't want to cut any of the ones they were playing... would have been nice if they rotated it...

    The Club Album - Will.I.Am

Definitely, I agree also maybe going into club territory will inspire them to play Mofo or Discotheque live on 360 next year...one can dream, anyway
