New Album "Ready to Go" according to Adam

Indeed, so this is merely the beginning of another 3-5 year recording cycle and the album will actually be released no earlier than 2023.

New Album "Ready to Go" according to Adam

From the July 2 Rolling Stone article "Adam Clayton on Quarantine Life, U2’s SiriusXM Channel and Future Plans" Finally, are you working on new songs for the next U2 record? We are. There’s always something on the go, as I’m sure Edge mentioned. We did some recording last year that got us some...

Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove.

They have a huge fan base so this is to be expected but they won't enjoy the success they once did. And that's the problem! They want to continue that level of success in a market which isn't favourable, so consequentially haven't released anything despite much recording. Maybe it's premature...

Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove.

Back on topic... Creatively I think U2 are as good as they've ever been, they're just not releasing their latest efforts due to some egotistical quest to write the "perfect pop song", get the next album "just right" and remain "the best band in the world". Sad really, because their music isn't...

Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove.

I've noticed this as well. I don't understand why so many here feel the need to voice their disapproval if the topic isn't to their liking. If someone can't think of anything relevant to the conversation then simply don't post. Leave the thread for those who can contribute intelligently to...

Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove.

In the context of "Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove", those comments were implying U2's last album was perhaps subpar because of the commercialised tracks blatantly inserted into the middle. Therefore U2 need to lift their game on future albums to match the "brilliance" of RAM...

Daft Punk's RAM... U2 have a lot to prove.

Yeah, it was a shame about including those over-produced tracks for the blatant purpose of increasing the album's commercial appeal. They didn't really seem to help and for me just made the album incohesive.

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

Is this normal for Interference threads to have so many useless off-topic posts? I'm acustomed to forums where the users don't post unless they have something relevant and/or intelligent to bring to the conversation. I do however thank the handful of people who have contributed intelligent...

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

It depends on the band. ACDC have made a career out of not innovating over the past 35 years and the band members claim there is no other way for them to be. But that's not really relevant anyway. I'm saying U2 ARE producing fresh and interesting material yet procrastinating over it way too...

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

And that's exactly my point! Brian Eno said in an interview after NLOTH was released U2 spent all this additional time trying to perfect their singles [sic], but for the reasons you've highlighted the original intention didn't come into fruition. So the time spent was just procrastion. Wasn't...

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

Perhaps you're being facetious with your responses but I'll address them seriously. You're definitely right, sloppiness just wouldn't do, but there's a point where a creative project doesn't improve no matter how much work is done to it. It doesn't improve in quality, it just changes. Thats...

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

Seems I don't visit this forum much and wasn't aware how often this had been mentioned elsewhere. The moderators might as well close this thread if people are only going to moan and groan about it.

insight into a couple new/unreleased tunes.

How about the recent Red One collaboration? Perfectionists more like it! And perfectionism is just another form of procrastination. Anyway, I won't take this thread off topic with a longer rant I just created a new thread for.

The real reason U2 isn't releasing any of this material

U2 currently has at least 4 unfinished album projects - possibly upto 8 depending upon how you look at it. But they don't seem to be releasing the new material commercially. Why is this? It seems they suffer from perfectionism and ego! And perfectionism is form of procrastination. They're...

DJ Sammy songs with a U2 influence

I don't know DJ Sammy very well but I've been listing to a couple of songs. The first is Rise Again - the intro is almost the same as the intro to Where The Streets Have No Name. The second is the latest single Why. The beginning sounds like the first few bars of I still Haven't Found What I'm...
