i dunno about down under but it was the early days of ticketmaster and the vertigo tour show i ended up going to in the states sold out in something like 16 seconds.

Not so much the early days of Ticketmaster (they'd been around awhile), but the early days of U2.com and the presales run in conjunction with Ticketmaster (as opposed to the prior Propaganda fan club ticketing), and there was plenty of hijinks on the first leg sales with brokers getting most of the tickets, causing Lawrence Mulliniks to pen a strongly worded letter and the fall leg to have a new presale code sent to all former Propaganda subscribers.

Finally got my act together and made sure I'm registered for tomorrow's Live Nation presales. Wonder how big a shitshow this is going to be.

Think I'll do Melbourne and Adelaide. If I then happen to be in Wollongong rather than NZ on the dates of the Sydney shows, I'll head up to either/both of them if the setlist is good enough or there's half a chance of A Sort of Homecoming.

I'm planning on Melb/Syd 1+2, Bris and Adel. Perth maybe later if there's a second show. Auckland I might be tempted later on as the shows get closer. Hope tomorrow goes smoothly!

Still scared, huh?

Adjusted for inflation, Ax is only mildly apprehensive

You better be fucking coming Headache. I’m ready to kick your arse.

Welp I woke up early and there's a sale on flights to Auckland, under half the price compared to when I looked a week ago  so I guess I'm going there too...

1pm baby. Getting Melb & Bris tix. I think it's gonna be easy, and even if I miss out here and in the general sale, which is very unlikely, people will be selling them on the FB event pages.

Wow, that Live Nation presale for Adelaide was a piece of piss. Got my GA.

Melbourne, you're next.

Melbourne GA secured. Absolute walk in the park.

Much like my victory over Headache will be. You are absolutely ON mate, see you there.

I assume they are. Vlad says he's got to wait to the public sale to buy. I just grabbed my own tickets today. My plans have been sufficiently in flux that I don't want to screw anyone around with changes or discarding tickets if necessary (though as of yesterday I'm pretty confident I won't need to change anything).

All GAs:
Auckland - 10 minutes (I accidentally selected NZ address, then kept getting the delivery option error until it worked)
Adelaide - 4 minutes, smooth
Melbourne - 3 minutes, super smooth

Yep, under 3 minutes for both Adelaide and Melbourne for me, then just waited on the email confirmation before I trusted that Ticketek/master hadn't balls-ed it all up.

Honestly expected these sales to be madness since you need to go to basically zero effort to be an LN member. Will public sale be a clusterfuck or is demand low?

I would take a guess that despite this "presale" being so easy to sign up for that it may as well be called a general sale, people don't know about it or don't have their shit together. Maybe, we'll see.

Brisbane done

I bought the other ones on mobile, this was the first one I tried mobile + computer at the same time. On computer it thought I was suspicious and threw a bunch of captchas at me, mobile was painless.

Possibly. In the past I've found presales like this to be utter insanity for Crowded House and Midnight Oil, but possibly that was a function of them playing venues much smaller than they could have played if they had wanted to, rather than U2 playing the largest facility reasonably available to them.

Huh, I would never even contemplate buying tickets on a mobile. Always computer.

I feel like ticket buying has got a lot easier in the last few years. I bought two GA for Melb and one for Bris within 60 seconds. Demand might not be as strong this time around, definitely. But I reckon in general it's become a lot easier to buy tickets. Seems to be less degenerates like ourselves hitting the buy button as soon as they open. And I think given it's been nine years, and there's a $70 gap between the cheap seats and GA, people took those. Those were sold out as soon as I logged in, the category five seats. Probably more of them than those shithouse behind-stage $40 seats from 360. Will be interesting to see how sales go overall, and how many of the extra shows we end up getting.

I would normally too, but I wasn't too concerned about missing out and I wasn't near a computer, so took the risk today. I needn't have worried.
