Vancouver Setlist Party (OPENING NIGHT!)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'd say on first listen it has potential, I do hope that it isn't the best thing off the new album though.

Was hoping for a bit more experimentation on the new record. Then Edge came in with the classic u2 guitar part, so I fear they may play it safe again. Not too impressed with the verse, but the chorus was ok.

Anyone else get bad vibes from the repeated use of words like "The end is here" on the outro of the new song? Album closer, and retirement statement?

that was to the letter, the rehearsal set for the last week.

Exactly what they've been rehearsing for two weeks.

Seriously, no other songs are rehearsed, so any additions will be as much of a surprise to you all as it was to us that followed that thread.

I know the set is shorter than we are used to, but how could anyone ask for more than they gave? ASOH, RHMT, Exit, IGC, OTH, MOTD, a new song... it is a rad setlist

I like the song, doesn't feel like a closer to me though.
From what I could make out of the lyrics (sounded like the end is near repeatedly), I get why they play this as the last song.

Emotionally and moodwise, I feel it is not letting you walk out on a high.

But maybe the fans will get the high for it being a new song. And I guess the casuals walk off wondering if it is a new song and might go searching for it.
I don't know....

I know U2's not fond of ending on a high, but a show feels so much better that way. I'm not a fan of ending drearily. It should end with energy.

The song was fine. But lacked. Sorry.

Exactly. Guys in their 50's giving us that kind of performance of a thirty year old record...

I had a outside hope they do a overall 80s setlist. Like once they really got into this they might expand to some other old stuff.

Yeah, same here. I couldn't help thinking that. And even though I would not like it. It would also be ok.

Is it weird to say that you could almost view ASOH in the same light as well. As in we are ready to come home...

Cant wait to see a better quality version upload of Exit. That song seemed to be killer  tonight.

that was to the letter, the rehearsal set for the last week. I still think it needs to end on something else, not a new song. what would you put in there?

All I Want Is You/Bad/40

Replace Elevation with Wire or a deep cut from Rattle and Hum; they're not here to celebrate the ATYCLB era, after all.
