The entire South of the US were shafted!

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

This is a pretty standard approach. Hit all the major markets first to see what kind of demand is out there. Then, secondary markets can be scheduled to meet demand.

The southeast as well as the northwest, will get their shows.

It's all a business.

While this isn't true for Western Europe, I think it's logistically more difficult to play in countries like Russia or Greece due to their relative lack of infrastructure (and, right now, relative lack of an economy) compared to Western Europe and the US. While distances are vast in the US, the interstate highways are good through all 50 states and make getting around a relative breeze if you have massive tour trucks lugging equipment.

I suppose they might also think that if you are playing Stockholm, it's not too difficult for someone from Copenhagen to get there, due to the smaller distances in Europe and the generally superb transportation options available. I think they look at Europe in the way that they look at the US -- not that they have to play a certain number of specific countries but that they have to play regions or geographic areas, which might mean that Stockholm has to serve all of Scandinavia, similar to how Chicago basically has to seve the Midwest (and people there have to deal with much, much greater distances).

Still, I do hope they add more dates and locations now and in 2016. Arena shows are great, if you can get in (and not sit in the rafters where the sound turns to mush).

U2 had no qualms having a massive show like Popmart in Greece or war-torn Sarajevo (how's that for poor economy?). Or even bigger show like 360 in Russia.

Given the size of EU, it once again gets underplayed.

More time more planning. They said they were doing fewer dates this time around and they are.

Atlanta, Dallas, Miami -- all past stadium dates, no ie tour.

They couldn't charge these prices in most secondary markets in the US. Look at Phoenix, the only city I'd call a secondary market on this US leg. There are plenty of tickets in the 275 and 110 dollar ranges. I really hope they do stadiums next year. Larger capacity = greater number of available tickets in cheaper sections (i.e. GA).

I think we'll definitely see stadiums in 2016 for
Seattle
Denver
San Francisco
L.A. x2
Las Vegas (kind of surprised they didn't do a couple shows here on this tour)
Dallas
Houston
Atlanta
Miami
Washington D.C.
Philadelphia
NYC x 2
Boston x2
Detroit
Chicago x2
Minneapolis
Edmonton
Winnipeg
Toronto x2
Montreal

Other cities MIGHT but MIGHT NOT get a stadium show
Salt Lake City
St. Louis
Ohio (Cincy or Cleveland, Columbus's only stadium is too big)
Nashville
Tampa
Charlotte/Raleigh
Pittsburgh
Upstate NY
Atlantic Canada (probably not Moncton again)

Way prefer the arenas.

I don't like the logistics and infrastructure of stadiums. If you're doing GA, the lineups are brutal, admission is is brutal, often the way to the washrooms or refreshments is like a mini marathon. I also don't think that you get to experience the show's grandeur that much from the floor which is where most of us would prefer to be, unless you have 360 vision and can crane your neck up each time.

I think the worst thing about this tour is the pricing of $300 seats in the upper levels. That's really outrageous and even in fast markets like Toronto, huge swaths of unsold seats. Not even the Leafs could get away charging $300/ticket in the 300s.

I just don't why they didn't book 1 show in the entire Southern US despite coming to North America. Living in Florida the closet show is NYC to the North or Phoenix to the west. This is ridiculous. Its a travesty to not have at least one show in Miami or Atlanta.

This wasn't surprising. We're in Florida but will be traveling to NYC for the 7/18 show because, well, it's worth it.

I'm pretty bummed about it. My mom was just diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and I will not be able to travel to see them. I was hoping to have it to look forward to but maybe they'll be back. Sucky week for my mom and me all around. She would have loved to go too. :(

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. :(

i don't know why some of you think they're going to stage a massive stadium to play every single market in North America when they're having trouble selling out arenas in a select number of large markets right now.
They could probably do 1 stadium show in the markets that they didn't visit, but maybe they'll just downgrade to arenas and do 2 shows in each city.

If any of you were actually sitting in the 300s for a stadium show, then I'd take the "lack of intimacy" line a little better.

Saw all 3 of my 360 shows from the nosebleeds, thanks. Bought 300 level for Chicago. Being broke sucks. Not seeing U2 would suck worse.

I prefer stadiums because then I have a far better chance of, you know, seeing U2. When U2 have to play 73739592947388373738 New York shows, they have less time to visit the third world redneck backwater that is the Confederate States of America.

Bono feels elevation when he's riding high on the shaft. Woo-hoo-ooh...Elevation!

Well the stage looks like a dick.

I think we should name the stage "The Shaft"

It's going off in The Shaft tonight!

I'm waiting outside all morning so that I can get close to The Shaft.

If this is the case, then I really wish that we in the South would get Shafted.

:giggle: Oh god. Really puts that whole Innocence vs Experience thing in perspective.

I still say they should use the bed photos as opening screen and walk out to "Like A Virgin" by Madonna. :sexywink:

Stadiums will have lower prices, especially in light of how these recent sales have gone. I think the vast majority of people will refuse to pay over $100 for any band, and that's what we've run into here. I don't think it's that U2 have suddenly become so unpopular they can't sell out arenas, but it's going to take time at those insane prices!

For a stadium tour, yes there will still be too many $300 tickets, but there will be a lot more $100 tic, $80 tix, and a lot more GA.

I think that with te release of SOE, U2 will need to do a little bit of damage control to make people like them more.
