Updates from Edge's interview earlier today. They're pulling out or Acoustic Christmas. The injuries don't sound good at all. His back is also involved, Bono won't be able to move for some time now. I don't know how they'll get him fit for the tour start in May:

The Edge first confirmed that due to Bono’s recent bicycling injuries, U2 will no longer be able to perform at the 25th Annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas. “He managed to come out of it with what you can only describe as injuries from a car crash, literally multiple fractures of bones in his elbow and his back. But he’s doing OK. We’re kind of lucky he was wearing a helmet, so he didn’t actually break Central Park. He’s made of tough stuff and he’s bouncing back.”

“He’s so upset about the fact that unfortunately as we’re about to announce, we’re not going to be able to do the Acoustic Christmas. He’s been told by his doctors to stay put. He’s back in Dublin right now and he basically can’t move for the next couple of months.”

“The poor guy, basically his left elbow was shattered, so a lot of the work was reconstructing the joints and putting in wires and plates. He actually showed us some x-rays a couple days later, it looked like a miniature Eiffel Tower.”

They had to implant plates into his elbow and even his pinkie finger, the bones and joints were basically shattered, they couldn't do any surgery on his shoulder so he just has to rest, be still and wait for it to heal. Accident happened on a Sunday, Central Park was crowded, he went over the handle bar of his bike, luckily was wearing a helmet. He needs hours of PT twice a day because he has to get his joints to work again. That doesn't sound good at all.
