How do you fucking keep your job after a blunder like that, Dave Fanning?

Oh, no. It was all carefully orchestrated. Just all part of Oseary's grand, evil plan.

Mwah ha haaaaaaaaaa.

Ugh. Can we please stop with the incorrect and ludicrous meme, repeated per and over around here, that U2 is spending 4 million on this supposed ad? IF there is an ad, and IF it's tied to RED and/or Beats, you can be sure that U2 is not spending 4 million of their own cash on it, if they are spending any of their own money at all, which is very unlikely. U2's contribution to these things, like the iPod ad, is being U2.

IF there were an ad, just for U2's record, and nothing else, there might be a point somewhere there. But even in that case, it would most likely be their label paying for it.

I for one wasn't saying they were signing a $4m check, but if this pans out their song is debuting with them playing it in an ad that costs $4m and will be seen by 120 million people.

Hold just the fuck on!

Is Dark Stares actually a Shaun Vox project??

If it is, and he has perpetuated this fuckery...off with his head!!!

well, it was the exact same link he posted this morning (European time) a few pages back (check out pages 14 & 15) which the mods edited out with "no"

i seriously cannot believe Fanning fell for it! i took one look at it and didn't even bother to play it lol!!

One of the more amusing things about this is that the Dark Stares song is from 2012, so it's not even there to plug a new release by that band.

Fanning's prank aside, I rather hope they're able to keep it under wraps until it airs live on the Super Bowl, though that'll be a rather nerve-wracking experience for a diehard fan.

Then again it seems all the ads come online beforehand nowadays.

Obviously he could've been pranked thinking that video from yesterday was U2, but then again...how the heck could that happen? He can't be that stupid, impossible, not after playing so much U2 over the years. Even IF you would believe that the music you hear is U2 (which is a monstrous achievement of failure), the video gives it away after 5 seconds anyway.

The whole thing's so freaking weird I just can't imagine anything else than Fanning looking like this right now...

...knowing he got us. Got us good.

If that post is what led Fanning to think it was U2, I'm actually pretty impressed.

Quality trolling.

(Assuming the video being labeled "new U2" was labeled/posted on YouTube by ShawnVox, anyway. Or was it already there being labeled as "new U2" and Shawn posted it here?)

if Fanning was taking the piss, it was a pretty irresponsible thing for him to do in his position

I'd be sure someone in the 2 organisation gave him the ok, create a bit of a buzz, stir things up a bit.

I think it shows someone, somewhere is watching what's going on in the fandom

If you have read any of the twitter comments about this, you can see why U2 may have felt the need to dumb down their music in the past.
