Actually, the other version of the Revolver story is:

Last night I took E in a car park out the back of Chapel St then went to Revolver and I'm pretty sure I heard the worst DJ set ever while having sex in the toilets and then vomiting. Going to that club high is one of the worst things I've ever done. :reject:

It's certainly more common than my story.

Sitting in a motel room Friday night in the middle of Central Otago hoping the place's Intarwebz is good enough to watch Hawthorn vs West Coast. :|

Maybe if I'm lucky, some of the other people at this conference I'm going to will be cool and want to go have a few pints somewhere. I'm kind of expecting to be the youngest person there by at least 15 years though.

I really hope the weed was so good that the DJ set was just some guy playing the riff from Day Tripper for three hours straight.

Haha. I finally know what you mean about weed enhancing the music experience. I felt like I was in heaven until I got tired and got a headache and couldn't drink any more.

Incidentally, I wonder if Gotye's Easy Way Out is not a subtle nod to Day Tripper... it's a similarish riff (I'm really stretching it) and the Beatles sing the words "easy way out".

Is AFL on NZ TV a lot?

(Most acronyms in a short sentence?)

There's a "game of the week" on one of the pay TV sport channels (maybe a highlights package somewhere too), and I think they do actually bother to broadcast some of the finals live. The first time I ever saw AFL was in New Zealand - the 1997 grand final - and it was live, back in the day when there was just one sports channel rather than a billion, so I presume the grand final is still live now.

I like that I can remember Adelaide's premierships but Vlad can't.

I can only remember showing interest in the AFL in about 2003. I remember quite a bit from that year, and my fondest Crows memory (they were always my preferred team but I didn't follow them as I do now) from that year was the EF win over West Coast.

And Cobbler, what the fuck were you doing going to clubs sober? If you do, it just ends up like that scene in that one episode of Louie. You all white and awkward, not getting any...ever, etc.

I rarely go sober. I'd just never been high.

hey all, go read my latest status update on facebook. Dave commented. go see what an emo little twerp I used to have to deal with.

I knew that the moment I went away to the middle of nowhere, a bunch of albums that I've been waiting ages to hear have finally leaked.

tried to talk to a lady on the phone today and I swear to non-existent God, she started barking. the first few words that came out of her mouth were words, not quite english though, and then it just ended in barking. Nosy little shit that I am, I looked up her medications. She's on three anti-psychotics, two anti-anxiety medications, and something that stops her from peeing on the floor. I have to try to call her back tomorrow. I don't want to.

Oh wow, Reggo. That truly is the legend of the dog faced woman.

By the way, I was looking up some of the national parks in your beautiful state and I now wish to visit Utah, regardless of any justice that may be thrown at me. It's like the best parts of the Outback on steroids. Unreal. Have you been to many of them?

Holy shit, that's not the Grand Canyon?

I've wanted to visit Utah ever since I realised that's where those big funky volcanic plug monument things are... and, you know, Utahraptor. Utahraptor spielbergii, no less.

And also since I got a postcard of the Arches national park. So many awesome rocks.

By the way, I would like to boast that I have successfully set up my wireless modem/router and configured everything ALL ON MY OWN. Booyah!!

This internet is so much faster than what I had in the other house... Hello iView!! (And incidentally the new Doctor Who episode which will be available thereon right after it airs in the UK on the weekend!)

Prizes for guessing what I called my network.

Yeah, that's from just one of the five big national parks in Southern Utah. They all look equally amazing. Of course, I'd love to visit the Grand Canyon, too. Hell, I'd love to just drive around the southwest, buying turquoise jewellery outside red ochre buttes by day, drinking low-alcohol beer on the boot of a car under an enormous sky by night. It'll be absolutely grand.

Glad to hear about your internet, that's the best thing. I'm just sitting here trying to work on an oral exam about the fundamental themes of existentialism that I have to do on Monday. Mostly I've just read Ax's signature over and over again.

I've been down there to Canyonlands, Moab most specifically, went river rafting through Monument Valley. It's gorgeous. I've been up Big Cottonwood, Little Cottonwood and Emigration canyons. Camped in East Canyon and the mountains above Payson (saw the clearest starry sky there and almost had a heart attack. Images are one thing, but to see it for yourself is sort of mind-boggling.) I've driven through Bingham canyon on the west side of the valley, too. Oh, and I went to summer camp in the Uintahs and hiked out to Heart Lake. Went to Sweetwater and Flaming Gorge when I was little, but I only have a few memories of that.

Goblin Valley, yeah. And yes, you'd have to come out to dinosaur national park, of course!

Surely they'll add more shows right? Not keen on going solo to that Saturday show.

Any of you guys keen on coming?

Also Ax/Charlotte/Ali/Danny have any of you got tickets to that Alpine show on the Sunday? I can't make the Saturday one but would be keen for Sunday.
