Twitter has proved useful to me at last - I hadn't heard Garbage was coming, and then the local venue retweeted someone's "just got Garbage tickets to their Showbox show!" so I knew to go hurry and buy a ticket.

And I'm being treated to a Bloc Party ticket by a friend who's coming up for Madonna, and is now coming earlier to see Bloc Party and will be crashing at my pad for a few nights. :)

Oh, and Jack White is now a maybe ... that might be the same night that our team at work goes out on this guy's sailboat and has awesome food and drink. It's always an amazing time, and this guy has a swanky new big-ass sailboat. Honestly, I'd rather do that than see Jack White. :reject:

I think it's possible to see 9 full sets a day, so I'm pushing for 20-25 sets over those three days. I saw 20 at Pitchfork with half the bands of Lolla. :rockon:
 
Classes end August 2nd and I'll be flying in from Orlando to Chicago on August 3rd. Getting there at around 11:00am at Midway, gotta get to the hotel which is quite far and then get out to the park so I'll be a while on Day 1. Sunday is the only day that I would want to see acts starting from the morning with Mona, but I figure it's best to not plan to see too many. We aren't exactly in our own environment up there, but I'll do my best to make the best of it. It's going to be a blast.

Wow, 9 is a lot. When do they start playing then?

I managed to see 6 to 8 bands a day at Werchter and I thought 8 was a bit much.
 
I saw Twin Atlantic, Civil Twilight, Neon Trees, AWOLNATION, an Airborne Toxic Event and decided to just skip seeing cake and Incubus (for many reasons, but mainly because I was tired. This was DC101 Chili Cookoff. I think 8 is doable. The reason why I only lasted 5 acts was because I was holding dwon a rail spot for every act and it was 90+ degrees outside and a rough crowd. I imagine Lolla is a bit more relaxed considering we will be moving stage to stage a ton, except on Sunday where ill spend 4 acts in a row on the Gambino (Bud Light? Google Play?) stage.
 
Wow, 9 is a lot. When do they start playing then?

I managed to see 6 to 8 bands a day at Werchter and I thought 8 was a bit much.

They start at noon, go to 10, and the headlining set is 2 hours. You can actually see 10 a day because the early sets are 45 minutes and that gains you an extra set over the course of the day, but roughly:

2-3
3-4
4-5
5-6
6-7
7-8
8-10

Obviously, you're not going to see that many because you'll need to eat, go to the bathroom, walk from stage to stage, etc. I usually try to aim for 7 a day.
 
And in addition to eating, going to the bathroom, walking, etc., not all of the acts you want to see will have times set up so nicely. Especially if you stay on the same stage.

So I guess... eating, bathroom, walking, and waiting.
 
Yeah, if you camp and stay on one stage all day (I've never done this for longer than an hour or so, for Cut Copy) you're only going to see like 5-6 bands per day. I've spent way too much money on this to do that, and don't consider front row all that important for most acts.
 
Ah, well the way I see it is that come Sunday I want to see The Gaslight Anthem, Of Monsters and Men, The Big Pink, and Childish Gambino really badly and they all just so happen to be on the same stage consecutively. The only act I'm really missing out on is Miike Snow... who goes through The Big Pink anyways.

I'm more about the fun I have though. I know, trying to get your money's worth and all, but to me it's more than a festival. It's my entire vacation. Going up there for the weekend and then to Detroit for a week.
