Pearl Jam Part II

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
as great as bruce is, even the e street doesn't do as much as pearl jam and the ten club do for their fans... from the amazing sets to the fan club ticketing to the bootlegs.

I was referring strictly to the value one gets from the band for their dollar at a concert...when the fan club stuff is factored in its no contest (well there is the tremendous value one can get from U2.com).

a new craft beer store opened a few blocks from me... i've stopped in a few times, in search of the holy grail. finally, last night... i found what i was looking for...

lady says they just got them, and they have a strict two bottle limit on purchases, and that they expect to be sold out by this afternoon.

:hi5:

Fuck. I guess there's not a chance of getting this in Europe, eh? Can you order the beer somewhere online? Doubtful probably.

haven't seen anywhere... would have gotten it already if ya could ;)

i also received a tween from a craft beer bar this morning saying that they have received some faithfull ale, but also that it's very limited (i've been pestering them)... so it appears that dogfish's manhattan vendor made a few stops last night.

it was 17.99 per bottle... got the limited two... so i'm okay with it being a limited edition if it's gonna cost that much.

I have to say I'm turning a bit sour on the Ten Club at the moment. With the price increase for memberships, their (non)handling of the 2010 Christmas single and now the Pearl Jam 20 deluxe DVD/Blu-Ray set fuckup... I can suddenly understand why some think U2.com isn't so bad after all.

Only available in the U.S. ( I think only 38 states in fact), in limited quantities, also on tap in some places.
Supposedly one more batch to be brewed before Christmas. I have no idea about the legalities of packing and shipping it to Europe, otherwise I'd offer to try and hook you up.

I got two bottles earlier this week ($15.95 a piece)...unfortunately damn bottles are too tall for where I was intending to display them in the glass doored kitchen cabinet (wife is happy though), so I have to find a new spot.

Ten Club gets a lot of heat over these things, but the band and or management are more likely the ones deserving of said heat. The band has to decide what to put out for the "Holiday" single, so its not the fan club's fault that the holiday has shifted from Christmas to the following Labor Day...and I assume again the band/band management were the ones who determined that the Deluxe sets would be a limited quantity...the fan club draws the ire cause they are the conduit for selling and distributing them, but they don't determine the quantity...and they did list them as a limited edition item...but most thought there'd be plenty and were aggravated (and its understandable) when they sold out. Should just press another run, I'm sure they would sell them all easily enough...but I don't think Tim Bierman or Rob Skinner are really to blame for the situation.

So 10 club outsourced the ticketing for its 2012 European dates to crowdsurge.com and the result was apparently an unmitigated disaster.

Yeah, 10Club is making U2.com look good. The European member pre-sales was one big clusterfuck. In the end, there was no pre-sale.
Thankfully I just managed to score 2 tickets during the regular sale. But the experiences over the past couple of months is making me think if the 10Club membership is really worth it. Because I still haven't received the 2010 (!) Christmas single either.

I have been turned off Pearl Jam for many years. Not the band or the music but the fans who hoard vinyl and then boost the prices up. The band seem to claim irresponsibility of what happens in the secondary market but must be aware. Some exclusive 'backpack' sold for over 1000 US on Ebay recently. It is these fans that ruin the music experience.

I left ten club and my low seniority number a long time ago.

Sad.

The band/management deserves some of the blame for making certain items extremely limited...and also those who are stupid enough to pay $1,000 for a backpack shoulder a bit of the burden as well.

But I agree with your main point...I have some of the rare items, most of the vinyl (missed Benaroya due to some software glitch, had it purchased and then it disappeared from my profile leaving only the shipping charges visible, the only real beef I've had with 10c personally over the years), some of the more "valuable" posters etc., but wouldn't consider selling them for profit.

Unfortunately I'm certain there are some who are 10c members only to take advantage of others (there are some scalpersbrokers who have memberships for example) and I know there some who are members who think that its their right to flip merch for profit on ebay to fund their touring trips, kind of a messed up outlook, but people will justify anything.

Fans are unpleasable bascially. These bands touch a part of the human psyche that only seems to want more and opens up a world of perfection and hopes.

There have been rumblings about returning to a paper mail in system. It seems that the Internet is the way forward but just need the proper system to get it working. Someone from the database, JAVA worlds or whatever needs to step in.

I really like Pearl Jam and have since the beginning and have admired their accomplishments in the fan department. No doubt fans and bands have come a long way. It is just a work-in progress.

It wasn't a software glitch. If something is rare you are not going to get as member of Joe Q public. If something is to be made available everyone should get a crack at it but that doesn't always happen. Not that I really care about records that much, like some sketchy squirrel who only comes out at night, but last week they put their 20 album on amazon. I don't think the public had one second of a chance. It was all on secondary markets for 300% of the price.

The question is, how does a band deal with secondary markets?

No, in my case it was a software glitch...and by the time I got it straightened out they claimed they were out of copies (And later auctioned them off on ebay for Tsunami relief, so I was lied to at that point).

Corduroy is one of those songs I never get bored of hearing. Live or studio.

Everybody should get that Buenos Aires bootleg. Crazy shit.

2 months 'til my 5-concert tour begins.

First time I did that, and the only band I'd ever consider doing something like that, for obvious reasons.
