They actually played it four times on Vertigo (twice in Auckland, twice in Tokyo) and three other times on 360 (twice Auckland, once Santiago). But yes, it's still special and deserves to be recognized.

Wow! You are just full of...

...information!

I only know the two more "famous" times on each tour. I hadn't realized they did it more.

From what I heard of the song on the Vertigo tour, though, I was wildly disappointed. The song became a mere shell of its former glory. That glory was restored with the Chicago performance on the 360 tour. :applaud: So if that's the version included (if it is included), I'd be happy.

It wasn't his username, but his real name. I believe the doctor was already on the Interwebs when I joined the WIRE mailing list back in 1995.

Yes, it was my real name.

Aah... 1995. When we all discussed OS1. Then came '97 when we all fought about "Pop".

I was discussing U2 back on the alt.music.u2 type forums back in '93 or so. I think if you do a search for me, some of my old posts might appear. So much fighting then. Glad to see the internet has now become a civilized place where opinions are respected and people are supported.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaa

The Tokyo 2006 version of One Tree Hill was great. It's a classic moment when Bono starts introducing the song but the crowd already goes apeshit to the pre-recorded intro. It even has a - gasp - spontaneous "Wow!" snippet from Boner because of that.

You know, come to think of it, I may have actually voted for Zooropa in the "favorite song" bit.

COME AT ME, BRO!

Yep, that was my first introduction to WIRE. I can still remember a long mail by a guy called Jason Gould (anyone? Bueller? Bueller?) about OS1 and why he did or didn't like it. And how he heard his name in One Minute Warning, forever ruining that song for me. :)

Willie Williams posted his picks:

U2 > News > 'All Three Show Openers...'

i agree for the most part with his picks, though I'd axe still haven't found in favor of Streets and Scarlet in favor of Electrical Storm. Crazy tonight can also take a hike because we've so many versions of it, but I do hope that if it does win out that it's at least a last-leg version so we can savor what little amount of Pop we received.

I would be thrilled with Willie's setlist.

The Return of the Stingray Guitar
Even Better Than the Real Thing
Breathe
Get on Your Boots
I Still Haven't Found
One Tree Hill
No Line on the Horizon
The Unforgettable Fire
All I Want is You / Love Rescue Me
Beautiful Day (with Mark Kelly)
Your Blue Room
Unknown Caller
Zooropa
City of Blinding Lights
I'll Go Crazy
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Scarlet
Bad
Hold Me Thrill Me
Ultraviolet
Moment of Surrender
Out of Control

The standout track? Has to be Ultraviolet. Listen carefully enough and you can almost hear the mirror ball...'

It is interesting that he didn't include Streets.

Really hasn't moved much, other than I think Magnificent has overtaken UV; that surprised me. U2 would be happy that 4 NLOTH songs are ranking in the top 22.

I'm happy to see Bad up top and UF, Crazy/Disco, Zooropa, OOC, OTH, Stay, EBTTRT, The FLy and AIWIY/LRM, NLOTH and MOS are up there.

I am cry that 40, Breathe, ES, HMTMKMKM, UC and Your Blue Room are out there.

I guess it's going to be a mixed list. At least we get some previously unreleased stuff.

Ha! I remember that Jason Gould thing from One Minute Warning!

I like this idea for a U2.com subscription gift. And I look forward to whatever 22 songs make it.

But what I'd LOVE to see is U2.com offer a SECOND CD with the remaining songs that one could buy. I bet a lot of us would get in on that!:hyper:

Absolutely!

I would assume 22 tracks is already 2 CDs?

Semantics. :)

I'm sure you are right - a true CD cannot hold 22 songs (unless they release it in mp3 format).

But I'd love to see a second CD or second set (2 CD's) available for purchase. There's a LOT of great songs out there that I know we'd love to have in our collections. Memories from 360 that we cannot capture elsewhere.

Of course, this might just add to the list of items I'd love to see U2 release. For example, with 3D TV's readily available, I would love to see "U2:3D" on Blu-Ray. Yet, no. I'd love to see some official CD and/or Blu-Ray (or DVD) release of some LoveTown era concert. But no.

If making CD's is too expensive, then perhaps U2.com can sell the other 22 songs in mp3 format. This will allow people to cherry pick their favorites that didn't make the subscription CD.

Just do something - don't just "toss" those other songs.

I think our best chance is that the CDs come with a code to download the rest of the tracks. That would be a big win for the site.

One thing fans should rememeber is that some tour versions of songs need to be committed to disc. I could really do without another version of One. Whereas not have a the string intro to Beautiful Day would be a shame.

Oh, One Tree Hill should not make it!

i can't believe there are people out there who are such die hards they will pay 50 bucks a year for a U2 fanclub and then vote for yet another live version "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" to be sent to them for their efforts.

No offense if that is you, I myself just think "we have that already, right?"

Also the Crazy Tonight remix was on the fanclub disc from two years ago, so why vote for that one?

Ah well, I'm not saying anything that hasn't already been said.
