At least MY team made the playoffs. Need I remind you of what happened when we visited Minnesota?

My sympathies to you and the Quebecers on winter vacation who pay peanuts to fill the BA Center instead of having the sense to root for the Lightning.Really pissed me off though... I was watching the game on NHL Netowrk and this comment:
"It's nice that you know we're in Winnipeg when the fans actually know when a penalty shouldn't have been called"
And I'm just thinking 'fuck you asshole'. I hate that stupid stereotype 'herp derp hockey don't belong down there'. Go to hell. The fans in Atlanta knew fine well what was a penalty and what wasn't. How dare you make such an irrational, stupid statement.

When you're an utter failure for over half of your existence attendance woes are bound to happen.

Am I to blame Canada's Thanksgiving for the Wild at Isles game during the day today?
No. The blame is to be placed on some Italian dude who sailed the ocean blue in 1492.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg last night looked incredibly insane and must have been a lot of fun. But that's nothing. Imagine...IMAGINE how loud and crazy it will be in Toronto when they finally get an NHL team.
Happy Mark-Hasn't-Gotten-To-See-His-Wild-During-The-Regular-Season-Yet-And-Won't-Today-Either/Canadian Thanksgiving Day!!!
(Meanwhile, dumb Columbus Day here is keeping my mail from me, too.)
Even when a Canadian team is absolutely horrible (I won't mention names) we still fill the seats!
I think you're taking this just a wee bit personally. Are there fans in Atlanta or any of the other Sun Belt franchises who are knowledgeable about the game? Of course there are.
But let's try and infuse some logic into this argument. Atlanta, Miami, Tampa Bay, Phoenix, Raleigh etc. are not traditional hockey markets. Hockey has a niche following and the sport is little more than a novelty for the vast majority of sports fans in these markets. I would be willing to bet that most of the six, seven, eight thousand people in attendance are there to be entertained and are not well-versed in the intricacies of the game.
Establishing that culture takes time and a lot more than 10-15 years. It's no different than what MLS is trying to do, in my opinion, by bringing soccer to a new fanbase. I'm sure many, many people at those soccer games would not be aware what constitutes an offside, for example, which is not the case in a place like Europe or South America.
Of course, I'd expect that with Canadian teams where the sport is more popular. However, every single Canadian team has more heritage than the expansion and relocation teams of the 1990s. All of them. Including the Winnipeg Jets. Once again, that says nothing about the knowledge of the fans either way.
Oh and at that please don't alienate me oh great people of Canada. I am in essence somewhat Canadian myself.
It's not taking the comments too personally. It was a weak taste in comment. You're utterly undermining the fans by saying they don't know what a penalty is. How fucking retarded do you think they are? A bunch of infants watching a hockey game? Oh no, silly me. I forgot, only Canadians know hockey.
