All Discussion on 2011 Rehearsals, Soundchecks *SPOILER ALERT*

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I would love for them to give ES another try. It would fit in that IALW/MS spot well.

If it's gone forever, at least we had it around for a few shows. That's one less of those "omg U2 will NEVER play it live" tracks.

edit: wow to think they even played Mercy too :hyper:

Seriously, it's such a great song. I hope against hope they follow through and play it.

It's easily on my top 10 favorite U2 songs of all-time.

My fingers will be crossed at all of my US shows.....

It seems in this and other threads that there is a pretty strong consensus developing on Kite and Running To Stand Still.

As happy as I am to see Zooropa, and as optimistic as I am that it will make either tonight's or the next show's set list, you have to admit there are plenty of less complicated, but equally great songs that they could rotate around and liven up the set. Hell, as others have already said , I wouldn't even mind Bullet and The Fly coming back.

How about 2 Hearts or Seconds from War?

Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World?

A Sort of Homecoming has got to be ok to try if they've busted out Zooropa, TUF and YBR.....

it's just never enough for some people!

too much is not enough.

No, it's plenty for me.

I think the set lists have improved dramatically throughout this tour.

All I'm saying is it doesn't take putting themselves through a song like Zooropa every time to liven things up.

Now that the tour is focused on the back catalog, it would be nice(and I think they're doing this) to play more of it than ATYCLB and AB.

Not really about any rehearsals or soundchecks, but I just browsed a bit through U2.com and looked at the news about the live broadcast that you can hear if you're from South America. On one of the links (u2.sonora.terra.com.ar) I came across something that I guess is supposed to be the setlist for the show (it loads for a few seconds, so be patient):

Destacados - Canciones Online - Terra Sonora

I doubt that this has anything to do with how the setlist will turn out to be, but it doesn't look very unlikely to me that a setlist somewhat like this one might happen. At least one of the songs listed there would make some people happy if it was played. :shifty:

Did you hear the soundcheck? It's the full song.

No particular place names
No particular song

This small verse is skipped. Plus Bono does a couple intentional lyric variations ie: "I have no Religion" is on the studio version but tweaked in 2011.

Light show in the soundcheck was different than the concert version.

Holy shit

Dont they only decide the setlist the day before? or even the day itself?

I've seen them change setlists on the Vertigo tour after the opener had played while Dallas & Co are doing final checks. Tearing the one laid down moments earlier to tape down another.

Usually it's probably a hour or two before they hit the stage. Once in a blue moon they throw in an audible(none on 360?) or changeup.

It seems like they just made a playlist that is pretty akin to many sets we've seen so far if you count the inclusion of (spoiler) in that spot which is where it has been snippeted previously on this tour.

Oh wow. I'll be really skeptical on this one, and say that it was based on the snippet, though it would be amazing if they played that song.

so i guess i'll need to use a Brazilian proxy tonight to hear the show?

I thought the radio stations online were stream friendly?

I really hope that's the case because my membership ran out a couple of weeks back and I'm not spending 50 for one show.

Someone tweeted that while there was a Brazilian station that was broadcasting the show, it wouldn't be streamed online, at least at that station.

ah well I'll live in hope! :) I just figured they might do that thing where they say 'sorry you're outside (this country) you can't access this' i'm sure someone getting it from u2.com or the radio station will stream it elsewhere for us paupers anyhow

With only three days left before the last leg, I assume we can expect more news from Mexico City soon, since the stage is close to done. I wonder what they're going to take out of the bag this time. I guess we'll have to find out if Zooropa stays and IALW remains out, and if they'll finally pull out some Pop material. :hmm:

I would expect Zooropa to stay in Mexico, but not last long in the US. Hopefully they don't go running back to IALW and choose something else challenging and interesting

I would be surprised if Zooropa lasted till the last show, but I unfortunately doubt it. The crew soundchecked Zooropa and a few other songs in the past two hours according to tweets, but that might not mean anything.

Just popping in one last time or so before it's time to put myself on the No Fly Spoiler List.

It's been fun, rehearsal, soundcheck and spoiler thread. *pets thread*
