Another note - Magnificent misses it's first 360 show. Should have taken out IALW, dammit.

Yep.

Magnificent, for me, is better in the studio than live, where I find it a bit flat,(with the exception of the promo tour) but it's still a great song that shouldn't be dropped if MS, IALW and Walk On are still hanging around.

Overall, though, great set list!

I know there's not a lot of new stuff and not the best balance of older stuff(where's anything from War or a full band MOTD?), but at least it's got the energy that so many shows lacked when this tour started.

Hmmm... only 3 NLOTH songs? This is ridonkuluous. On so many levels.

C'mon, U2.... I know the group's got a plethora - nay, a cornucopia of material to choose from at this point (taking into consideration the many other unreleased songs being played). Throws us a bone, guys... it's pretty much known that there will be no new album to support, so give us more insight as to what some of these songs sound like. Heck, another performance of "Boy Falls from the Sky" would be great, yo.

I've decided I'm done setlist bitching.

The boys seem to all be having an amazing time playing the current songs they've selected, Willie seems to have finally fine-tuned all the song transitions and light show effects (save for the Questions segue into COBL, which still seems to be getting tweaked) and the mere fact of being at a U2 concert make it all worthwhile.

Sure, if they don't play Bad or Mofo or The Fly or Miracle Drug or Running To Stand Still at my shows I'll be sad but, hey, at least I'm there, I'm seeing my favorite band in the world live, and I'll be having a good time.

Yes, even if they are still playing IALW>MS, I'll be having a good time. What's waiting six minutes to get to the greatest light show of the concert (COBL) going to do, kill me?

The end.
:applaud:

U2 seem determined to make sure they play less songs from NLOTH than from Achtung and ATYCLB. "Ah shit guys, we're only going to do four tonight from Achtung and from ATYCLB!" "Oh well then, better kick something else from NLOTH to the curb. Can't go promoting that too much now." "Magnificent?" "Yeah, fuck it."

maybe NLOTH is turning into the new Pop...

Easily the last song of the night. Good night to everyone, Sao Paulo I this Saturday!

Yaaaaaaaay...they played "Bad"!!!!

Maybe it's a sign that the remixed/reworked Magnificent is coming in Brazil - tired of this version or something? Who knows.

I know if I'd gone to the last of three U2 shows in my area after waiting two years since the album came out, and they dropped Magnificent for the FIRST time on the entire tour, I'd be piiiiiissed!!

Well this version of Magnificent doesn't do the song any justice. Needs urgent reworking and then yes, definite comeback.
Yeah, Mag's current incarnation is nowhere near the live classic it could and should be. I don't want a Crazy-style techno remix, but a new approach to the song live could be very cool indeed. Fingers crossed they play it in Brazil...

Seems like they need to add the click track over Larry's drums to get the dance beat the album has. They build it up to a peak when they play it now....then it falls flat and empty b/c it doesn't seem supported by the percussion like on my stereo. But this song should have the stadium surging if the dance beat can come through.

Glad they keep dropping tracks from NLOTH while "In A Little While" stays put. And I'm not being facetious. No Line On The Horizon is a good album, but it's way overrated around here just because it's new. A lot of diehards on Interference may dig it, but for the other 65,000 people in attendance, they aren't too enthused. Like me, they probably feel that the album lacks a single classic number. It's a good album and strong throughout (except for SUC), but I wouldn't put a single track in my Top 50 or even close to that which is part of the reason why I was rather hesitant about this tour before it even began.

Thankfully, the band have realized the error of their ways and have made the setlist much stronger throughout the tour. There's still a few bits of confusion (really, Miss Sarajevo AGAIN on a stadium tour?), but it's becoming a much better show as it goes on.

wow, this is just sad. maybe the next tour they will play more than 2 songs from this album.

 No, they will rightfully ignore NLOTH almost completely on their next tour. It doesn't have a single song that really wows the audience, perhaps aside from MOS as a closer. And they certainly won't want to close their next tour with the same song, so with nowhere else to go....Dropped!

Honestly, why would they squeeze room in the middle of a greatest hits set/devoting a third of the set to their next album, in order to include a non-hit that nobody in the audience could really give two shits about (again, aside from the select forum junkies that harp on their latest release like it were Astral Weeks). I mean, when HTDAAB came out, people all over this forum were calling it one of their best albums. It was finishing behind Joshua Tree & Achtung Baby in polls here! And look what it's left us with, two bona-fide live classics and nothing else making an appearance on the 360 tour. In five years, the hype for NLOTH on forums will die down to a whimper and it will be regarded as second-rate by the bulk of U2 fans, just like HTDAAB.

Set list bitching is just what we do around here for shits and giggles right?

*pr weighs in*

Magnificent, Breathe, NLOTH and MOS deserve a place in the set list ~ maybe it's time for Boots to go in favour of NLOTH or NLOTH2 or Breathe? (they have Elevation, Vertigo and Crazy for the bounce around like loons fans  ). . . IALW needs to just find a rock to hide under . . . even if just for a little bit, it's tired (although it's kind of the band to give us a bona fide pee break  ) . . . and yes, the album is now two years old and yes, there needs to be a balance of old and new so they can keep pulling crowds but it's just a little disappointing that there isn't a little more faith in their latest offering and that Elevation Mark II seems to be what 360 is turning into . . . having said all that, I would still go see them every day and twice on Sundays' even if Bono was singing from the Idiots Guide to Highway Maintenance in mongolian and Adam was persisting with the hobbytext tshirt from hell :)

Looking forward to the next show . . . hope to catch some of you fabulous lot there

Am I the only one not in a tizzy that they dropped Magnificent last night? I love the song, but I'm sure it was just a one-show occurrence, as it was a rare third night at the stadium.

I'm going to wait to see if it'll be dropped again before I raise a stink.

And that won't happen, because it ain't going anywhere.

stupid me, I keep forgetting that Boots is on NLOTH. :tsk: I keep associating with HTDAAB. :der: oh well. RIP NLOTH.

 . . . my hublet actually thinks that boots is just vertigo reincarnated . . . he even asked me why they bothered to play both at the show he came to (yes, he asked me at the show  what was he thinking :D ). . .so your post made me giggle just a little :)

"Hey Interference, don't like IALW? Fuck you!"

For me it's not so much that they didn't play Magnificent specifically (I don't mind much whether or not it's in the set), but the principle that they're playing just four NLOTH songs and saw fit, even on one night, to cut that even further to three.

What shits me is that, to be honest, areas like Australia and South America have basically missed out on the Vertigo and 360 tours, because by the time the band gets down here, half the new stuff has already disappeared from the setlist. If you're Australian or Argentinian and you don't travel outside your country for gigs, you've possibly heard UTEOTW or ISHFWILF more times than you've heard every NLOTH song combined. Would it kill them to cut just one or two "classics" that we've already heard on every past tour and play something new we've never even had the chance to hear?
