UK Dates next Summer?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Well **** you U2, you could at least have let us know you wouldn't be coming back to the UK when the other shows went on sale. Adding to the fact that Glastonbury has already sold out, how the hell are your British fans that can't afford hundreds of pounds for a holiday abroad going to see you next year?! I really feel badly let down by the band now.

Exactamundo was hoping to see them with wife as she didn't go to Cardiff :angry:

Yeah a real piss take. I think it's fair to say a lot of us waiting for UK dates would have gone Europe had we know this in advance. So we get confirmation of no more UK dates only once other dates have been on sale AND once glastonbury is sold out anyway. Basically screwing over the UK fans (except those lucky enough to be going Glasto anyway)

Hey, you can still get tickets to ALL THREE German shows that are still yet to sell out!

(Why they thought three more shows in Germany would be a good idea while not even scheduling ONE in Dublin or London is beyond me.)

The difference Unicorn is that at least you KNEW they weren't coming and had time to arrange going to another show. We in the UK have mostly put off buying other tickets because we were awaiting the announcement for the British gigs. Now that they finally decide to bother telling us they won't be coming back AFTER most shows and Glastonbury have sold out we're left with no avenue to see them elsewhere.

bollox ! Now got a horizon pre sale code burning a hole in my pocket and not enough cash to see them abroad (already got Paris tix using missus's pre sale but she already says we can't afford).

I'm gutted about this. Looking at forums in the past and speaking to festival goers - most seem not too keen on U2 taking over their event. That is what really gripes on this.

Paul McGuiness told us at Cardiff they would be back and built our hopes right up.

Do you reckon a claw will be going with them or will they be on the pyramid stage? If they are taking a claw it might be worth putting a few quid on now with the bookies that U2 donate one of the claws to Eavis for future festivals.

Double bollox! (but at least will be on the telly!)

Pyramid stage. No way they can get a claw there - all three will be occupied in North America.

yeah just seen the guardian article saying pyramid.

Shows how rubbish U2.com is. Would thought it is first for news. I've been checking daily, and just after midnight this morning and this wasn't there but the likes of the sun and guardian already had the story.

A bit relieved to see someone say more tix for glasto will be availalble in the new year.

That would be amazing to get some. To secure a weekend away from the kids, see some great festival type bands like Kasabian and Rev and the Makers and top it off with U2. And then the World Cup games being shown on big screens. Only snag is getting a ticket!

Why do people think that cus they are playing Glasto that there won't be any UK shows? I still think that as soon as the Glasto things is announced for real they will then announce a couple of UK stadium shows as well.

Wow at some of the posts on this thread, U2 dont owe UK fans anything, why all the bitching?

as for glasto thats a great move imo,

Tough week for Irish fans.

First go out to that very dodgy goal after a commendable effort and now it is compounded by no more shows.

Where else are they playing that hasn't been announced yet? Mexico, south America, Asia, Oceania? Jus wondering if worht using my preslae for one of these rather than panicking and getting the first show that is next to be announced.

Failing that I've told my other half I'll make an honest woman of her and take her to Vegas next June! Desperate situation, desperate measures :D

So...tell me...what do they owe Canada, Spain, Germany and France, that they all get revisited?
I reserve the right, having loyally followed the band for longer than you been alive, to moan about this!

When and where would they fit the UK in? what stadiums would they be allowed to use? city of manchester, nope man citys new owners wont allow concerts, old trafford? again how often do manchester united allow concerts?, so where else? they play 1 show in cardiff and 1 in London there would be far more bitching than is happening now, its about logistics not just what the band want or dont want to do.

eh?

Yes i am, there would be far more people who are unable to get tickets thus leaving more people dissapointed,

Given that there were tickets available for most UK gigs for weeks after they went on sale, you've got to be joking. You think people would be more upset about getting gigs than about not getting gigs?

You've gone mad.

Yes maybe i have Axver,

Who knows anyway, i do find it strange that they have totally missed out Ireland.

Could they totally end the tour in the UK and Ireland? sometime in 2011?

I don't find it strange. Actually, it's not the first time they miss out Ireland on a European leg. Furthermore, they miss out several other markets in the world.
Maybe ticket demand in the UK/Ireland is not high enough, maybe it's logistically difficult to fit in, maybe they don't wanna provoke overkill and keep demand high for future tours... After all, Dublin was the only city getting 3 shows in a row.

Not if the statements they made about leaving claws in Australia/Pacific are true.

Maybe they will end it indoor? maybe those statements arent true? i dont know i really dont, but for them to leave the UK and Ireland out altogether is a little strange, and imo is logistical more than anything.

Or LiveNation doing their bean-counting again

Oh please. They're all doing their bean-counting. U2 are capitalists, too. They're not going to play a string of dates in an area where demand is saturated and the press will roast them like chickens for anything and everything they do.

I'd also leave out my home country if I'd put up 3 shows and afterwards would get sued €36K!

Still, big bummer for the people in UK. Then again last summer (and next summer) I also have to travel around to see the U2 shows because they're not coming to my town, tough luck but there's no reason why I would actually be mad at them?!

They're not going to end the 360 stadium tour with arena shows. It simply won't happen.

Check out some of the comments to them playing at glastonbury on the guardian site, almost every comment is negative, can the band do anything right anymore?
