Bye Cin!

If this thread has finished without me, I suppose you can start yours with one of your ideas today. I'll then make the thread after that if it's possible.

But you never know, the thread could be deserted for 3 hours for all I know.

Yeah, see what happens. I could make the thread for you, but I was thinking it might be better to leave it for you, since it's your idea and all.

Well, i'll be gone for a few hours. It'll come down to whoever will keep the thread going. And I don't want to sound selfish or demanding or anything.

But I'm off for now.

Lo, I am still here. Hi Diane!

Just finishing packing before heading up to Queensland tonight. Travelling extremely light to avoid baggage fees. Not that I need much for only a couple of days anyway.

Yeah, two hour flight. They've just started charging for checked-in baggage with the cheapest airfares ... though I'd have probably just taken carry-on anyway, to avoid waiting at the baggage carousel for anything.

This was easier before I had a laptop and big fucking camera of doom, though.

Yeah, I'm allowed two items - I have my camera/laptop bag, and one other with clothes and stuff in it. Wish I could take my tripod too ... could get some great night shots of the Gold Coast from my mother's place. Might have to improvise one.

My tripod is ... not entirely small. It only just fit into my big suitcase in Europe. It would never fit into what I'm taking now, which is a pain.

Haha, yeah, I'll probably have to use tables ... stacks of books come in handy too!

I was just going to take a book I have to read for uni with me ... but I couldn't help myself and grabbed another to read. The First Circle by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn.

I'm in the middle of Stephen King's The Eyes of the Dragon...which I haven't read for a long time. I should actually finish that soon...I think it's due back at the library soon...

It's all my mothers fault that I'm the reader that I am....she was always reading to me when I was little and when I could read she had me read her my bedtime stories. The very first chapter book I read was "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe"..we went to the movie together when it came out

The book was better..:D

My mother just about literally read to me from the moment I was born. I was placed in her arms, and she read something to me there and then, not that she can recall what it was! But she talked/read to me non-stop since I was born ... soon as I learnt to talk, I haven't shut up since, and soon as I learnt to read, I haven't been without too many books.

I absolutely hate not having a book with me...I took three of them to Europe.

I think my to-be-read pile has about 20 or so books in it.

I'M BACK! :D

And ready to make the thread ... almost.

Afternoon.

Basically, just follow the template of the first post and you should be fine. Like this:

So far, we've visited: (or "we've [something funny]):

[List of all locations we've been to, with previous thread added to the end.]

[A few details about the place, preferably amusing or unusual.]

[Link that proves the place exists, we usually use Wikipedia.]

Oh god, don't even ask about my to-read pile. If it's only 20 books, I'm doing well.

Thanks.

This definitely makes everything a whole lot easier. Though may I use a Google maps link instead of a Wikipedia page? (as in this)

Yeah, we've used Google Maps links before - in fact, the location I would've used, I'd have had to rely on Google Maps too.

Oh, and Ranga's a town, not an island?
