That's what I thought you meant as well.

I thought Love and Peace kicked butt live. Loved Bono banging away on the drum at the end.

My bad, fellas.

That's one of the Vertigo songs I wouldn't mind seeing played pretty often.

Did you get the douchebag version or the nosebleed version?

All they had was nosebleed. It's more or less the exact same juicer, it's just got some plastic parts, a slightly weaker motor (that still runs at the same RPMs as the other one), and a less fancy blade. It's half the price of the other one, so realistically it's probably a better deal for the money. I work out every day during lunch, and I weighed myself today and was down a pound since yesterday. I'm going to pretend it was juice related.

I too am sick of some of the "we've been playing them on every tour since the '80's" songs. I love Bullet, but really don't need to hear it live again unless it sounds considerably different than what they've done before.

You know what's funny? In all the conversations about the 80s warhorses and what should be dropped, I never see I Will Follow mentioned.

Is it just that beloved? Or just that no one is as sick of it as all the others?

I, for one, could stand to see it go. But I wouldn't mind if it stuck around again.

They didn't play I Will Follow or New Year's Day at the one U2 concert I've ever been to (5/12/05) so those are two 80's "warhorses" that I would personally lurve to see.

New Year's Day is the one warhorse besides Streets that I don't ever want them to drop.

Maybe they've managed to keep I Will Follow sounding energetic and fresh without "oh, Bono can't hit that note anymore" so it doesn't get lumped in with Pride and With Or Without You.

Streets, New Year's Day, and I Will Follow are all exempt. I think it has to do with the nature of all of those songs: they're all energetic and just plain badass.

My big issue with the warhorses is that they all get slowed down: I Will Follow, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Pride, Bullet the Blue Sky. If they were just made their normal tempo, I'd probably enjoy them more. They lose so much edge with the slower tempo.

New Year's Day, Bad, Streets, and Until the End of the World are the only four songs I think should be played at every single show.

THIS

I love I Will Follow. And it brings you back to the start. And is still awesome. And when you hear the opening guitar

There is some reference to it in the documentary It Might Get Loud

"Out of Control" and "The Electric Co." are the better songs off of Boy, but for some reason, aren't played as much.

Maybe they could set up a rotation where they play a fixed number of songs per night from a certain album and swap them out every night. Por ejemplo:

3 songs from Boy
2 from October
2-3 from War
3 from The Unforgettable Fire, etc...

Doesn't matter which ones, as long as a couple of "classics" are trickled in there along with some general badassery, then I think everyone wins.

This is true. Pride just drags, SBS has become a casual saunter instead of a militant march. Bullet ... eh, Bullet wasn't all that rocking to begin with.

The only time I Will Follow really bugged me was Popmart, where they slowed it down so much it was all I could do not to run onstage, grab Larry's sticks and shout, "No! You're doing it wrong! GO FASTER!"

Plus, they cut out half the song.

yeah, that was not a high point...

Seeing The Electic Co on the last tour was pretty awesome though...

Ha! I was thinking about that, too. I'm fine if that happens, but only if it can be done without 15 snits and that argument again.

I'd love to hear Gloria again. I was so excited when they played it in Seattle! #1 on my wish list is Out of Control, though.

I agree. I always think I'm sick of New Year's Day and I Will Follow until I hear the opening notes then I'm all  and :yippie:

How long will it be before the random music chat thread gets merged with this one?

I honestly wish that entire thread would get closed down and not allowed to come back, as it detracts far too much from actual conversation going on in the normal threads. Most people don't want to venture into the random thread, myself included a lot of the time, and thus never see if there's a mention of an actual band they like. It's incredibly lazy, people go post things there when there's a thread about the band one or two pages back. It causes a massive lack of discussion between regulars and not-so-regulars, and makes casual posters feel even less included. It does nothing but make the entire rest of Bang and Clatter feel dead. Random "music" or "movie" threads are completely unnecessary if that entire section of the forum is dedicated specifically to music or movies.

As long as they don't make it a nostalgia trip. That happened way too much on Elevation, but not so much on Vertigo. Just play the damn song, dudes.

 No stories about 4 young lads from the streets of Dublin, please.

Yeah, I could do without that stuff, too. I'm not holding my breath, though.

And hey - there might be one person out in the crowd who doesn't know anything about U2 and will find this to be completely new and fascinating information.

I can't say I have ever been bored during any song at a U2 concert - no matter how many times I may have heard it before - I still scream and jump up and down like a little girl...

I've been bored before several U2 concerts - crappy opening bands! :madspit:

I hate that thread. Notice I boosted a 4 year old thread to avoid going in there to talk about Jenny Lewis.

I don't know what it is, but when people say shit like that (and there's always at least one), my response is completely irrational. I realize it's ridiculous that it makes me so pissed off, but it does.
