I've been educating myself lately in classic rock; it's been a fun little distraction from school for me for the time being.

Me too! Lately, I've given first listens to Rolling Stones "Let It Bleed," "Their Satanic Majesties Request," and I'm listening to "Sticky Fingers" as I type, The Who's "Who's Next," Creedance Clearwater Revival's "Cosmo's Factory," and The Beatles "Let It Be." Oh, and I listened to Led Zeppelin IV today.

Nice! I've noticed that you've been listening to lots of classic rock too in the What's the Last Album You Listened to thread. I just gave first listens to "Let It Bleed" and "Who's Next" last night. I've listened to "Let It Be" before, but I'm going to have a go at it again tonight I think. I've also listened to pretty much every other Beatles album in the past few days. It's all fantastic in its own way; the earlier stuff is just great 60s pop, and the later stuff was revolutionary and still inspiring to listen to. I have a few Led Zeppelin albums to get into as well. :hyper:

You should also test out All Things Must Pass by George Harrison, Plastic Ono Band by Lennon, Imagine by Lennon, and Ram by McCartney (when you have a chance). They're the 4 post-Beatles albums that are essential. I suppose Band On The Run might be in there, too.

Now I'm just trying to figure out what to do next. Next on my list was going to be Green River, Willy and the Poor Boys, and Pendulum by Creedance Clearwater Revival, but I'm too poor to buy them and I can't find links to the remasters. Ah well. I bought Cosmo's Factory and I suppose I'll have to just play it again. :D

Epiphany! By Year is how iTunes needs to be sorted! Not by Album or Artist. Cos then if you pull up an artist like Van Halen, it won't look messed up by bringing Sammy Hagar's Balance album ahead of Roth's Van Halen I. But it's gonna take a lot of time to label all the random songs and stuff with the correct year.

:reject:

very carefully

actually, I'm probably doing it the stupid way, there is surley an easier way but...

I number the artist for each album, something like:

Boy - U2 - 01
October - U2 - 02
War - U2 - 03
Unforgettable Fire - U2 - 04

and so on, it took a while when I first started but now I just do it automatically when I add something new... I have a problem, I know :reject:

Damn. I thought I was gonna learn something new.

Which field do you use to number the album? The album name field itself?

I just thought of a simpler way to do it... just keep the library sorted by artist or album. Then when you look an artist up using Search, just sort by Year at that time. Simple solution.

I never look up artists by Search, though. I guess I fail.

Already have and listened to "All Things Must Pass" ( ) and "Imagine." I need to get "Plastic Ono Band" and "Ram" though.

I have more of The Who to get through and another Rolling Stones album (Exile on Main St.). And, all of the Led Zeppelin I have...I think I'm going to start with The Who and Zeppelin, then get around to the Rolling Stones in a few days.

There's still so much to listen to though! :hyper:

I have all of Zeppelin but III. I just listened to all the Rolling Stones from 1967-1971 over the last week. I've just gotta get Exile On Main St. in there sometime. As for The Who, all I have is Who's Next. Couldn't find anything else (for free :reject: ).

I have III too, plus I, II, IV, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti. I think that's all of them.

What's your email? I have several invites to a certain site which might have some more Who albums...:shifty:

And you're missing Presence, In Through The Out Door, and Coda by Zeppelin (though you're not missing out on too much with those three). Oh, and I highly recommend their How The West Was Won 3 disc live set.

Ah, yeah, I know I don't have them all, I grabbed the ones that I knew had good reputations, or had songs that I recognized on them. I'll have to check out How the West Was Won too though.
