Oh man! It's her most perfect rock song I think! Badass lyrics, great guitar and powerful vocals! As for that album opener All I Really Want, I really cannot stand her voice in that one! Actually, there's a handful of songs on Jagged.. where I cannot stand her voice! She sounds like a dying cat or something! lol.

I feel the same way about You Oughta Know. Her vocals are mixed waaaaaaaaaaay too loudly, and you can just barely hear the guitars.

I like Jagged Little Pill in general, but just not that song.

Alanis broke big when I was still sort of a music snob, so I had to hate her for at least a few years. You could not escape that fucking album in 95/96

That said, she has two songs I sort of like in spite of her.
Thank U and the song from City of Angels, which I can't think of the name*
I just think her vocal style can get real old. In fact, I think if she had a more straight forward vocal style, she'd be twice as good and twice as popular. But I guess she thinks she's unique.

She also had another song where she's in the video walking (like a treadmill) in front of green screen scenery, which is was pretty alright. She's also got a big rack.

I loved Jagged Little Pill when I was younger, and I still like a few of Alanis' songs, but I think I might have outgrown that album. All this wordy awkward angst sounds so adolescent now.

I'm in the middle of purging my CD collection and for now I have about 30 albums to take to a second-hand CD store. I've given Takk one final listen and unfortunately I still can't get into anything Sigur Ros have done after Agaetis Byrjun.

I was at the JB Hi-Fi the other day and they played the new Verve album. It sounded very average.

I still can't bring myself to sell off any record from my collection, even the ones I don't like very much (at the moment). For the record, what albums are you planning to do away?

That's also my impression a bit. Nice, typical The Verve sound, but in the end it doesn't stay.

Let's see...

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
Michael Jackson - Bad
Nirvana - Nevermind
Enigma - The Cross of Changes
Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl
I've got Greatest Hits collections of these and that's enough for me.

The Smiths - The Smiths
The Smiths - Meat is Murder
I love The Queen Is Dead but their first two albums bored me.

David Ford - I Sincerely Apologize For All the Trouble I've Caused
Nice but average earnest singer-songwriter stuff.

The Hives - Your New Favourite Band
Dandy Warholes - Welcome to the Monkey House
Nelly - Nellyville
Ok Go - Oh No
In & Out Soundtrack
Ash - Intergalactic Sonic 7"s
Pink - Can't Take Me Home
I bought all of these because I liked a single or two, but found the album pretty mmeh.

Silverchair - Diorama
Silverchair - Neon Ballroom
Whitney Houston - I'm Your Baby Tonight
Tina Arena - Don't Ask
Natalie Imbruglia - Left off the Middle
Liked them at the time but can't imagine ever playing them again.

Sigur Ros - Takk
Icecream Hands - Broken UFO
Gersey - No Satellites
The View - Hats Off to the Buskers
Got the albums mostly because of positive reviews, but just couldn't get into them at all. The View album was probably the worst purchase I've ever made (yes, including Be Here Now) but at least it taught me to never touch an album with Libertines cited as an influence.

There're also a few albums that I keep mostly out of geeky completism; I rarely ever play U2's October or Tori Amos' Scarlet's Walk but because they're my big favourite artists I'm strangely reluctant to part with them.

OK, maybe not about the Enigma one (I might have that one on cassette somewhere), but the others... Five classics.

Ash - Intergalactic Sonic 7"s
[...]

:tsk: I think that's a great compilation of Ash's singles. Too many examples of excellent pop punk on it to mention here. Though I did think that the B-sides bonus disc wasn't all that.

Natalie Imbruglia - Left off the Middle
Liked them at the time but can't imagine ever playing them again.

Yeah, that might be it (got this one too). But getting rid of it? What happens if 2 years for now I do want to listen to that one suddenly?

I still like a handful of Alanis songs:

Mary Jane
Joining You (from her second album - too many words in it, but it rocks)
Thank You
Uninvited (the song laz was trying to think of)
Hands Clean
Wunderkind (I think it's from the recent Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe film)

Cori, I don't remember wondering about the title of some Alanis song. Unless you're somehow reading my subconscious thoughts. GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

6. White Horse

If this is about drugs, that's pretty hot.

Guess who's playing for free tonight locally!!! :hyper:

Gin Blossoms.

When I was working in Chicago last summer, the Gin Blossoms were playing a free show at Lincoln Park Zoo. It was then that I realized how far they had fallen.

lol. Eh... it's free and I don't mind singing along to Found Out About You or Hey Jealousy just to relive the 90s... and maybe try to chat up others that miss the 90s too.

Any Of Montreal fans here?

Their new album 'Skeletal Lamping' is circulating round the interwebs and is getting terrific reviews. I've listened to a few songs and it's mostly great stuff. Their last album 'Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?' was brilliant.

I'd drive right by the Zoo every day on my way to work and see the sign about their free show there and think the exact same thing.

Shame that you, me and GAF did not get to all hang out together while you were here.

I tried. Perhaps I should try again?

From the couple songs from the upcoming album that I've heard, I'd steer clear of "trying again" with this one. If you didn't like Hissing Fauna, you won't like this at all. Even I'm not sure if I'm going to like this album from what I've heard, and I've loved their last 3.

Back to Alanis....I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I think her MTV Unplugged performance/album is stellar. One of my favorites of the series. :reject:

Natasha Bedingfield is getting engaged! :scream:

And no, not with me...

She has some wonderful pop songs (to bring this post back to the music). I really love Unwritten!

Guys, let's talk about Oasis, Coldplay, Eagles, Post Black Metallica and...

...whatever else laz is notorious for hating on!
