The only thing that annoys me more than my dad offering driving advice is when he's fucking right with the advice.

It would be bad enough if it was Dad, but it was my brother, which makes it even worse because he doesn't deserve me getting angry with him. But hey, I let him have his scotch at the restaurant so I could drive, he should be glad I made so many mistakes!

I'd give you an update, but like I said, I have no idea what's going on.

One of our riders has some technical problem though. That's not good.

Damn, I was hoping we were an outside medal chance.

OK, time to cook dinner. For the first time in days, I feel really hungry.

Honey barbecue sausages ...

Why the fuck does golf want to be in the Olympics? Ugh, that'd just be a waste of time.

I was reading the Olympics blogs on Stuff yesterday, and one entry made an interesting point that I think I may agree with: if an Olympics gold is not the highest honour in a sport, then its credentials to be included in the Games are questionable. i.e. an Olympics gold is the ultimate in the athletics, aquatics, gymnastics, etc., but when it comes to golf, the Masters are always going to top an Olympics gold, for soccer the World Cup is a much higher honour, etc.

Tennis is another. It's a good point. Personally, I think if the "elite" in the sport would prefer not to compete in the Olympics it's questionable, such as tennis, football, baseball.

Yep. Incidentally, under that criteria, rugby 7s would qualify, since there's nothing to top it.

Though when it comes to soccer, given its global popularity, it's kind of hard to say it should be cut from the Olympics programming, despite the fact it's currently little better than a joke.

Yeah especially with baseball. I love how i haven't heard of anyone on the U.S. baseball team. That just seems wrong to me.

7's arguably could be topped by winning the overall circuit. But I do think it should be in.

I think that tennis and football are ones that shouldn't be cut because of overall worldwide popularity, ditto golf, to be honest.

Since the circuit is run every year, while the Olympics is only every four, I think winning the Olympics gold would prove to be more prestigious in 7s. It wouldn't necessarily happen immediately, but after a few Olympics, I imagine it'd be the case.

I'm just not convinced that golf is really an Olympic pursuit. It seems to me that its current circuit suits it much better than being included in the Olympics programme.

As for tennis, with both Federer and Nadal competing in it this year, I think its continued inclusion is pretty sound.

Incidentally, regarding the tennis, I was happy to see Federer get a gold in the doubles competition. Regardless of his form this year, he's so, so deserving of an Olympic gold, no matter how important it is in tennis.
