If the last one's real... it's BALLS... FUCK them all :grumpy:

i hate to sound negative, but i have a feeling that this will probably be true. it gives me no pleasure because the best shows of vertigo imo were outside of the us/europe...

True. Bootleg collectors will be disappointed to hear this.

not really. hardcore tapers won't have to break the bank flying all around the world

Didn't say tapers. They'll be thrilled, lazy bastards they are.

I, for one, will miss being able to hear the South American gigs. Those are always strong.

we're the best crowd... and THEY KNOW IT...

hell, they opened a champaigne bottle here at the end of the show... and I don't think they did that much... not even for the grand finale

I'm not saying that the champaigne bottle is the ultimate win... but it's something, right? :sigh:

:reject:

I can't picture them doing a worldwide tour again this time either. Too bad though.

I already resisted buying Coldplay and Madonna tix so I can put $ towards this tour

How about to cause some contraversy they dont tour at all?

It wouldnt be all that unrealistic outside of the fact that they like to play the songs live but it would be interesting to see peoples reaction if this actually happened :)

why can't you picture them doing a worldwide tour this time?

if this is true, it sucks...and I live in the U.S.:grumpy:

When they started recording again earlier this year didn't one of the band/studio crew mention a world tour and possiblity of an album in November? I'm tired so I can't remember who it was/and what month.

I hope they do tour as many places as possible.

I really cant see this being true, everybody knows there the best live band in the world and they like to share that. But if it was, they would lose so many casual fans.

With:

Vertigo tour in such high demand

Rolling Stones finishing their Bigger Bang Tour and Coldplay trying to mark their territory

U2 being U2 (so big)

you better believe there will be a world tour. I expect nothing but a grand scale (see ZooTV, Popmart) this time around. The last 2 tours have put U2 in such a position.

I'm leaning towards this as well....I pray this is what ends up happening! :hyper:

I seem to remember reading that Bono had worn himself to a frazzle what with all the drop the debt stuff going on at the same time as the tour and with loosing his father. They had originally thought of extending the tour to Australia, etc. but felt the band kind of put their foot down and insisted that Bono take better care of himself. Remember he had also had that emergency sinus surgery that he hadn't told anyone was also a throat cancer scare that thankfully turned out to be just the sinus problem. I don't remember where I came across this but it makes sense. If you go back and look at photos towards the end of the Elevation tour you can see that Bono looks practically gaunt. He had lost a lot of weight and his voice was coming and going all through the tour. I don't think extending the tour would have been a good idea from the standpoint of his health. Although he still does a lot now he does seem to pace himself better than he was back then.

interesting...well if that was a big reason why the band decided not to go worldwide with the Elevation Tour, then it would only seem logical for the next tour to be worldwide....Bono's voice is in stunning condition, and then look at everything zoopop touched on...I can't imagine a U.S./Europe only tour...it wouldn't make sense

i'm not sure how much stock i'd put into a quote from somebody who heard larry's sister say something.
I'd take anything from her as pretty gospel.. when I was a boy fan and used to occasionally write to Principle Mgt where she works (before the internet) she would never commit to anything that wasn't confirmed..ish.

right. but this is a fan saying that larry's sister said this. i could say i had an exclusive interview for my college with u2 and paul mcG, does that mean it's true?

Gosh, you just reminded me how I, too, had written Principle Management when I was an obsessed 12 or 13 year old and was so impressed and happy when I received a handwritten U2 postcard from her.

I'm sure they'll make it there at some point when they're turning 65 like all the other bands do.  I don't blame them though. They gotta go where the most market is.

oh my :giggle:

THey've never toured there?

THen it's time, they do!
At Least- they shoud play one major city in the northern section and one in the south.

Sheesh....
...ya think with the growing Middle Class in India here they'd at least do 2 dates. Then let there audience grow by enthusiatic word-of-mouth and by E-mails & you-tube personal vids etc! :D

Yeah I think the problem is that even though there are lots of rock music fans over there and U2 fans as well, the majority is still only interested in local music, mostly film/bollywood or other regional film music. So there probably is not enough market for a sold out stadium/arena show. That's my guess.

Who were you talking about by the way? The growing middle class that is currently here in the US?

Except for the fact that while Edge's daughter may be doing well now if it was Leukemia you pretty much need 5 years remission to kind of be able to breath free. So maybe they don't want to commit up front to a world tour and have something happen where they have to postpone like last time. They can always look at extending the tour once they see how things are going. Wasn't Vertigo also extended into 2006 after the initial leg of the tour?
