I'm about a week late to this party! My lovely wife & I should be at this gig, and the Rose Bowl also.

Me too! I'm crossing my fingers for both as well...Judging from this thread I have a feeling there's also going to be a party on Interstate 15 ...you know...for those of us not flying to and from SoCal

erm... this may be too early to ask, but if I flew into Vegas and out of L.A. could I maybe hitch a ride with someone? :hmm: Better for the environment to carpool, you know.

If you're lucky

Well excuse me Miss Thang.

I plan on going to both shows too so that wouldn't be a problem at all!

yeah I'm in this situation as well. if nothing less, it would be nice to coordinate a rental.

btw, y'all can just call me T. everyone else does.

Sweet! Sounds good. And of course I'd pitch in gas $$$. Wait, are you insinuating that the pleasure of my company isn't payment enough?

I think I'm in! Room is reserved (able to be canceled at no cost in case dates change) and all we need is for tix to go on sale soon so the airfare can be reserved at the great rate its at now.

This would be amazing...and between this and the Giants Stadium Show(s), I'd feel much better about no Philly shows on this leg!

if they play at Sam Boyd Stadium, the rooms off the strip would not only be cheaper but even more convenient. I saw the red hot chili peppers in '05 there and traffic down tropicana blvd (i think) was horrendous.

Its torturous reading all these posts about people having their tickets PHYSICALLY already...i want to stimulate the U2 economy NOW:hyper:

Definitely off the strip is what I'm thinking. Weekend in Vegas traffic, not fun to get stuck in.

Can't wait :hyper:

^I;m not a native but i've gone to a ton of concerts there so I hope some of this info is helpful...for those traveling on a budget.

There are decent hotels down flamingo blvd and tropicana blvd near UNLV. Its amazing how the price changes even if you're just a couple of blocks away from the strip. I've stayed at the Terrible's Casino (the name is misleading...the rooms are quite nice) and the Tuscany suites (also quite nice) and within walking distance of the main strip but enough distance to give you a head start from the traffic and the madness. No massive parking structures. These things really do make a difference. either when you want to leave or when you're dead tired and just want to park and go to sleep.

As for the ones right by the stadium, I think Sam's town is much much closer.

Another spot if you don't want to spend the hundreds of bucks a night at the well known hotels on the strip,go to Downtown LV, Fremont street. Although further, there are some great deals for those GA folk that simply need storage and a bathroom to shower. The Plaza, Fitzgeralds have decent rooms for the price and are not seedy at all.

Again, this is only what I know from my frequent visits. I'm sure there are other tips some LV natives will soon give :reject:

Hope some of this helps

And for those crazy pennypinchers that are only there for the day, nap at the parking structures. my college girlfriends and I parked at the MGM parking structure and grabbed a 5 hr nap before hitting the road again. I did that when I won tickets for a show at the Joint in the hard rock hotel. Yeah... Im definitely not 23 anymore:wink:

I've heard that Terrible's and Tuscany are nice for the price---haven't stayed there yet.

If anyone wants to search for something close to Sam Boyd stadium, do a hotel search for Henderson, NV.

Also, if you are thinking about a rental car, it can be cheaper to rent them from an off-airport site, especially if you are staying off the Strip.

I would HIGHLY recommend Sunset Station to anyone who is thinking about staying in Henderson. I've stayed there many times. I've actually stayed at a few of the Station casinos in the area but would only recommend Sunset and Texas. Texas is probably a little too far north for the show, though.

Sunset Station is located right off the freeway across from the galleria (which is where I'm headed in a bit, here) there's a Target a few blocks down as well. There are a bunch of restaurants in the area - both regular sit-down places and fast food places, including an In n' Out.

What hotels are those?

I actually booked a just-in-case room at the closest hotel to Sam Boyd. $80/night and walking distance. It's a two=bed room. Can't remember the name but if you do a distance search, it's the one within a mile away...

I've heard great things about sunset station! it looks so nice! That would be a great possibility...i wish they'd announce the date already.
But im also afraid prices are going to sky rocket once the news reaches the hotels...that's what happened to me when the Madonna concert at the MGM was announced. However while surrounding hotels charged 3x what they normally do, the nearby Exalibur must've missed the memo. I stayed there the night of the show for only $55. :D

Seriously... Las Vegas Hotels - Las Vegas Shows - Las Vegas Entertainment | VEGAS.com is great!

You know, you CAN make reservations at the current rates and then cancel later if the dates change. Hotels will just re-credit your card if you need to cancel. Usually it just has to be done within 24-48 hours before your arrival to avoid penalties.

The cheapest airfare I found is flying in on Tuesday, leaving Sat. I was thinking of staying on the strip and then on Friday morning, going to a hotel closer to the venue for that one night.
