12. I would also like to have a nice job without paying any taxes, and don't enforce any labor laws or tax laws.

13. Please tell all the people in the country to be extremely nice and never say a critical word about me, or about the strain I might place on the economy.

I know this is an easy request because you already do all these things for all the people who come to the U.S. from Mexico. I am sure that Pres. Fox won't mind returning the favor if you ask him nicely.

If he can do it, I fail to see why so many other people are blantantly refusing to. It makes me ashamed as a Hispanic to see people who are not legal citizens of the country they so "love" demand rights equal to those who are. Especially since half of them I see stopped by news crews to be interviewed either don't know what they are protesting for (quit taking your kids out of schools), or can't even communicate it in proper English (someone actually said "we's Mexicans need equal rights"). My mom married my dad and became a citizen. She had to learn the language and work hard. I am tired of seeing the migrants hanging out on corners looking for work, when they should be doing something to make themselfs legal. I love your story I applaud your father.

I totally agree. Alot of immigrants have worked hard to get into America and have gone through alot to become a legal citizen. I believe if someone wants to come here they should do it in a legal way.

I posted this because some aspects of this really are relevant to the immigration discussion especially in a border state.
It is obviously written tongue-in-cheek.
I think most people welcome diversity, recognizing that the history of any American is one that involved immigration to a new land.
At issue here is illegal immigration and the demands it places on a state, a country and it's legal cititzens.
Your # 12 answer is what I mostly agree with as I believe these workers are exploited (if only by our standards).

I'm from TX and honestly TX benefits more from immigration than anything, probably more than other bordering states. Our laws make it very difficult for persons with illegal status to get medical or other benefits. Our housing, farming, and restaurant industry benefit hugely. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I can see both sides. It gives unskilled and even some skilled laborers the benefit of feeding a family that otherwise they couldn't. Everyone says, well why don't just get legal, but for some being illegal gives them an edge. Once they become legal they have to get paid competitive rates and then some lose out because of racial and language issues.

It isn't a black and white issue.

And it doesn't just effect border states, for this isn't just a hispanic issue.

Today 450,000 marched in Chicago(largest protest march ever in the city), many of which were Polish, Middle-Eastern, etc...

dozens of times
and mexico has never require me to present a visa or passport

I just walked over the boarder
and was welcomed with open arms

most of the merchants spoke enough English for me to take advantage of the great bargains
i did not have to pay any taxes to Mexico when I was there
I just used their country and people for my advantage
like all the other Americans I saw there
cheap drugs, cheap booze, cheap clothing, cheap sandals, cheap funiture,

Some of the stuff written in that letter that you say is written by small minded people is true. We have to change everything around to accomidate immigrants so they could still speak their native language. Granted there are some who make the effort to learn their new homeland language.

1. The have clinic's run by the state which I have seen illegals go to for medical attention. Correct me if I am wrong but don't hospitals admit patients no matter what??

2. I bet if you read Mexican text books you would only learn about their culture and it would carry false truths like some public high school text books.
