Living here has its downsides.

The San Diego fire looks like the worst one. They have had to evacuate an entire town (Ramona) and a hospital. As of now, 250,000 people are going to be displaced. There is soot on my car in the driveway, so I've got all the windows closed so I don't breathe the air. And I am 30 miles from the closest fire. Yikes.

i got sent home early from work,
it's getting pretty bad
both my boss and a coworker has to evacuate their homes, we could see the distant orange glow of the fires from the window at work.
it was pretty surreal, we had the am radio on,
there was a fire here 3 or 4 years back that caused us to miss school for one week.

wild animal park had a fire on one part of their lot earlier this morning,
i hope they managed to put it out

they have evacuated the wild animal park from what I understand, it is in the direct line of the fire. They are afraid that the Witch fire in San Diego will go all the way west to the ocean. If that happens, ,many more homes will be lost.

A few years ago, San Diego rejected more funding (a tax increase) for more up-to-date fire fighting equipment, and this was after the Cedar Fire.

I hope they won't need it.

Stay safe, everyone down there. We just heard that at least 7 of our employees have lost their homes.
