I've never heard the original Kraftwork version, but U2's cover of this song is really gorgeous. The keyboard, chimes, and bass are haunting. And the lyrics, 'Neon lights/shimmering neon lights/and at the fall of night/this city's made of lights' are beautiful, chilling. I think this would be REALLY effective as a closer on the tour, especially in cities like Vegas, New York, Paris, etc.

i really like Kraftwerk but the original is hilarious.
the vocal goes like this : nii-ion latz, shimaring nii-ion latz, with the same emotional effort The Edge has put up in Numb.

I made sure I heard the Kraftwerk original first since I'm quite a fan! Excellent stuff...yes, goes on a bit at the end, but fantastic song!

U2's is actually quite appalling...the only thing "Haunting" about it is that they used it as a B-side to 'Vertigo'...! Just my opinion...it's very bland and lacks what the original had.

Neon Lights would be 200% better if it the vox was Bono's Lemon falsetto voice.

Neon Lights is very ambient and reminds me of a Brian Eno kind of vibe. I think its a very good song but I have to hear the original!
