I can't honestly say I'm that crazy about too many of the films you listed there, pal.

As for this year. Just make sure you see my top 5, unless you have any particular aversion to something about any of them, like if you're one of those "Wes Anderson is a stupid hack" types. But seriously, even if they don't appear that interesting now, I'd hope you'd trust me enough to see them on blind faith if you're looking for something to watch this fall/winter.

(Lust, Caution), Reservation Road, and Atonement should all be just about as remarkable as my big 5 as well, if not moreso than some.

I'm calling it now though. This year is going to be all about "There Will Be Blood".

2006 guys, the first three alone are in my Top 20 for the Decade:

Children of Men
The Prestige
V for Vendetta
---
Casino Royale
Borat
Little Miss Sunshine
The Illusionist
For Your Consideration
Slither (a ridiculously fun movie)
Snakes on a Plane (fucking yes)
Stranger Than Fiction
Pan's Labyrinth
Mission: Impossible III
Lady in the Water (it gets a lot of flak, but I really enjoyed it)

2006 is remarkably fantastic, but I personally felt the truly masterful list of films was shorter than I'd like.

Children of Men, Little Miss Sunshine, V for Vendetta, Casino Royale, and The Prestige were my top 5 (not in order there, but not too far off either) were all damn near perfect film experiences. And there were several other very good movies I saw last year as well, but I can't say it was a ridiculously strong year as a whole.

Hell, we haven't even gotten to the good part of this year yet, and I'd say 2007 already comes close to rivaling last year.

The blockbusters were better this year than last year, for sure. All, if not most, of '06's goodness came around this time last year 'til the end.

So yes, 2007 has a very, very big chance of being the best.

I don't even remember if there were any blockbusters worth watching last year to be honest. And since this year's had Transformers, and Spidey 3 (two average to good films, still highly entertaining) 07 automatically wins in that regard.

We Own The Night trailer. This looks like it could be really great. Pheonix is one of my favorite actors these days.

...also...

Rob Zombie's Halloween remake:

We've completely ignored Hot Fuzz, too. One of the best movies of the year, even on an iPod screen.

'08 looks like it could own this year though, check this shit out:

Fanboys
Semi-Pro
Iron Man !!!
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Indy IV !!!
The Happening
The Incredible Hulk
Get Smart !!!
Tropic Thunder
The Dark Knight !!!
Step Brothers !!!
Hellboy 2: The Golden Army
Journey 3-D
The Pineapple Express
James Bond 22
The Wolfman
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Angels & Demons
Star Trek !!!
Barbarella
Inglorious Bastards !!!
Speed Racer
Watchmen
Synedoche, New York
John Rambo (so ridiculous I have to see it)
Flicker
Hancock
The Love Guru
Drillbit Taylor

IMDb that stuff when you get the chance, it looks pretty good to me.

08 does have some sweet stuff coming, but a lot of what you listed really doesn't look like anything that will be worth higher than 3 stars. And you didn't even mention Revolutionary Road, what will probably end up being one of, if not the must-see film of 2008.

I'll elaborate, highlighting the films on there worth getting genuinely excited about.

And I know I didn't highlight Inglorious Bastards of Watchmen. But for good reason.

I highly doubt we'll see I.B. before 2009. And as for Watchmen, well, I've already spelt out my concerns for that film before. I'll wait before I get too hyped.

I forgot about Revolutionary Road, that's sure to be great.

Benjamin Button's gonna be great, it's another David Fincher/Brad Pitt flick, that sounds like a winner.

Hancock looks pretty cool, and the rest is just personal preference I guess, especially with The Love Guru nod (it's good to see Mike Myers try something new before he makes 4 more of them)

I'm not up to date on most of what's coming out the rest of this year (some of them will be 2008 here in the UK anyway), but 2007 hasn't been that bad at all so far. Babel, The Fountain, Little Children, Zodiac, This Is England, The Lives of Others, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and Paris Je T'aime have all been a cut above, with some other decent ones too.

2006 had some absolute pearlers though. Brick, Pan's Labyrinth, Goodnight, And Good Luck, The Proposition, Clerks 2, Little Miss Sunshine, Casion Royale, The Squid and the Whale, The Departed, United 93, Volver and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada were all excellent. I still find it hard to make a top 10 out of those 12.

Looks like Watchmen is coming out March '09.
