I was going to start a similar thread about M. Ward, who opens for them Thursday night but I found one in the band index.

Where are your seats Martha? :hyper:

From allmusic:

A five-piece from Cincinnati, the Greenhornes take the best elements of '60s R&B, blues, and British Invasion and distill it down to their own brand of Midwestern garage rock. Their original compositions consistently come across with a level of songwriting maturity which belies the fact that they're a group of barely 20-somethings. Along with the White Stripes and the Mooney Suzuki, the Greenhornes are among the vanguard in a garage/blues-rock revival which has largely emanated from the Rust Belt. The band released their debut album, Gun for You in 1999. The Greenhornes, their sophomore release, was released on Telstar in 2001.

I've heard of them, but I've never actually heard them before.

M. Ward opening for the White Stripes? That is odd but interesting.

martha, you're seeing too many good shows this summer. You're having just a little bit too much fun.

If it's good enough for Jack White, it's good enough for me.

Ok, so I saw these guys Monday night opening for the White Stripes. (ohmygod, don't ask me how fucking incredible they were :faint: )

Anyway, they sound good. Sort of raw "roots" style. If I were to see one of their records for cheap, I'd buy it.

I've listen great things about them... I haven't heard any song by them actually

Thursday night, Section A, row C  :hyper:

great seats! Have a fabulous time! Greenhornes won't be opening on Thursday. I think it's Autolux (?)

I was hanging out outside during this opening act, so I didn't really hear them :reject: Met martha though!

Have a great time. Off topic but I saw the White Stripes last night, did not make the concert in time to see the Greenhornes, but White Stripes rocked! Have fun BAW!

We're back!

The seats were great but the only drawback was we couldn't see Meg, which really disappointed Mr. BAW. Eventually some people left our section and we were able to move down a little and get a better view.

And guess what? Martha was there again!

Oh man, what a show! I think it was the best concert I've been to in years. I wish I could have seen all 4 shows.

My husband went again - waiting for him to arrive home. He was sitting way in the back (cheap seats & cheap tix!). He said they played longest tonight (via phone). If you guys want to compare notes, let me know. He was also outside the Greek for Tuesday evening's show, which he said seemed a little 'unfocused' I think...

And martha went to yet another show!

So we're sitting there and surprise! our beautiful Martha comes up to give us some  and some ...thanks.

Another surprise for the night; the light go dark, Jack starts out heavy and we kinda slide down the aisle due to open seats..(we're in Sec. A Row 3)...suddenly, I see private security escort an older guy and young blonde and they walk past me and she settles in right next to Mr. BAW's right shoulder...she smelled sooooo good and she looked pretty fine, up close and personal! I'm not one to stare so I don't..so I'm next to this gal for 3 songs or so and we slide back to our original seats 6 to the left when the blonde and her escort head back out...OMG! BAW and I now recognize that it was the "Hollaback Girl" herself, Gwen Stefani!!! I rubbed shoulders with Gwen Freakin' Stefani!!!

I'll never wash that shirt again!

and she couldn't be bothered to stay & watch the show? Hubby said he saw some :censored: blond getting out of a limo and partying like crazy. Well, at least you enjoyed yourself,

Hubby said it was the best of the 3 he saw/heard!

Ah-ha, yes...

White, Benson Make A Racket With Greenhornes

By Brian Garrity and Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

The project White Stripes vocalist/guitarist Jack White has been working on with singer/songwriter Brendan Benson and Greenhornes bassist Jack Lawrence and drummer Patrick Keeler has been christened the Raconteurs.

"We'll probably be coming out with a new record next year,” White reveals to Billboard.com. “We're almost done with it. It's something totally new for me -- two songwriters working together. Dual vocals, dual lead guitars, dual songwriting duties."

"It's a brand new band," White insists. "It's not just me and Brendan; Patrick and Jack are very talented musicians. The songs are giant. They're really large."

"It's cool, different stuff," Benson told Billboard.com last year. "Some of it sounds like Jack and some of it just sounds like Cat Stevens or something."

The Greenhornes will have plenty of time to interact with White in the months ahead, having just been chosen as the opening act for the White Stripes' upcoming North American tour.

In addition, the recent iTunes EP "East Grand Blues" will be released on CD in August via the band's own Prize Brigade Recordings. It features "Shine Like the Sun," which was recorded by Benson.

Any greenhornes mp3s? sounds right up my street...:hmm: Also, the Jack White/Benson etc project sounds very exciting!

I liked the Greenhorns enough that I bought their ep, but overall i thought they were boring live. Of course when you are waiting for Jack White to come out everything seems boring. Although their bassist was awesome.
