You've never heard "Pictures of You" or "Friday I'm in Love" ? How odd!

I personally love "Letter to Elise," "Close to Me," "The Caterpillar," "Lullaby," "Fascination Street," "High" and "Just Like Heaven."

Robert Smith

In between days and lullaby are very good

I have recently downloaded a live version of "pictures of you" which was awesome,

my favourites:

high
pictures of you (all of disintegration, to be honest)
just like heaven
if only tonight we could sleep
in between days
charlotte sometimes
boys don't cry

The whole Disintegration album...
but if you want something, you know, happy, maybe... Just Like Heaven, Inbetween Days, Mint Car, The Lovecats, High, 2 Late, Push, Doing The Unstuck, Taking Off...
The guitar solo in Three Imaginary Boys is phenomenal. There's also... Jupiter Crash, Strange Attraction, There Is No If, All Cats Are Grey, To Wish Impossible Things, How Beautiful You Are...
The whole Pornography album.
Your best bet is just to get Staring at the Sea: The Singles, then Disintegration, then if you like what you've heard...

in between days
fascination street
pictures of you
close to me
high
from the edge of the deep green sea
never enough

A Night Like This has always been one of my favorites.

While Staring at the Sea might be an obvious choice because it's a singles collection, I would just recommend getting Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, because it probably has the widest range of musical styles of any Cure album, which would give you an idea of what they can really do. It was also their breakthrough record, and is high on the list of many fan's favorites.
