nick only produced one inxs album though, and i wouldn't classify it as loud and trashy. i'm not saying midnight oil are loud and trashy, though.

Nick also remixed the Kick singles.

On the other hand he produced "10,9,8...1", "Red Sails In The Sunset" & Earth Sun & Moon (my personal favourite) with the Oils + the King Of The Mountain, Blue Sky Mine, Forgotten Years & The Dead Heart singles.

In any event, I gather that beli is going on their earlier work - which is fine its not uncommon for bands that ply their trade on the Sydney pub circuit to sound "loud & trashy"... just as long as its acknowledged that they developed into a far more musically adept machine by Deisel & Dust & then again for Earth Sun & Moon.

JD was great. Regardless of what many think about him, he may be the best choice. Or maybe Marty.

I used to want Mig to win, but now I don't think he is right for the band. He sounded like the Phantom of the Opera singing Paint It Black.

Not tremendously impressed with anyone tonight, or at all for that matter.

Their best chance to not totally embarass themselves is still probably Marty. I think JD is probably the 2nd best choice now and saying that says all that really needs to be said about the choices.

A shame and disappointing on more than one level. I'm shocked the talent pool wasn't better.

Yes, some of them have a little redeeming value, but to step into a ready made famous band, you'd think it take some really undeniable chops. I think some of them have some talent, I am not trying to be a hard-ass. I just don't see udeniable talent. I see having to make arguments FOR it. I could make some arguments for each of these people, but it's not what you'd like to see.

I mean even Gary Cherone could sing his ass off. He didn't fit with Van Halen, but there was little denying he had talent. That and he had a decently succesful band of his own. Why does American Idol still thrive in America? They found a girl who had absolute undeniable talent. A brilliant voice, shitty music to my ears, but a brilliant voice in Kelly Clarkson. That, IMO is the only reason that show is still on the air.

These guys, Marty, JD, Mig and Suzie, all nice enough to front your local hard rock cover band, but INXS? C'MON. Yes, everyone has to start off somewhere but to front INXS, I'd like to think they could get better. This isn't an amatuer singing contest, and even in some of those cases they find a "diamond in the rough".

Could they have not been better suited to really expand this search? I don't recall seeing a single advertisement for this idea prior to the show airing. There isn't going to be another Rock Star:whoever unless they revamp the search process.

Forget about all of our deeply held problems with this WHOLE IDEA. But the fact that they went through with it, and still really didn't find a "diamond in the rough". That is almost as disappointing as doing it in the first place.

Basically all I am saying is, even with all of the reservation each INXS fan on this board has about the entire process, if they had found a singer who really, really had "it", then it might very well have made the whole idea work. Because if it's undeniably good, do we really care how they found the singer?

I am not enough of an elitist/idealist anymore to care about that sort of thing, I'll leave that to you folks trying to impress your peers. At the end of the day it IS just the music that matters.

Yeah, I was wondering about that. Is it actually an INXS song with JD's lyrics (and megaphone) or did he just use a certain riff or melody? And, which song?

I don't know exactly which song it is but it's JDs lyrics. It was annoying last night how they gave only JD and Marty their strongest songs
