any Firefly fans out there?
or even fans of the movie, Serenity?

lazarus said:Oh, one other thing is that fans of Firefly should try to hunt down the old British show Blake's 7, about another group of space-travelling mercenaries who are part of a resistance against a totalitarian Federation. Unfortunately it shares the production value of mid-to-late 70's Doctor Who (and was actually created by one of its writers), but the characters and scripts are top notch, and much darker than you would expect. If you see a few episodes you will easily see how influential it was on Whedon's creation.
Unfortunately I don't think the 4 seasons are available in the U.S. on DVD, but you can find torrents for them if you look for them.
I went through almost the same thing. I had a friend who was a huge Whedon fan, and especially a Buffy fan, but I had no interest, because although I'm into vampires, I subscribe to the Anne Rice school of vampires, which is completely different.lazarus said:I initially was reluctant to watch this show because of my distaste for Buffy and Buffy fandom. But for the hell of it I borrowed a friend's DVD of Serenity and was pleasantly surprised, the dialogue not nearly as contempo and precious as I expected. I went back and bought the Firefly boxed set (which is only like $20 at Target), and loved the whole thing.
