What is the Cure's deal anyways though? I mean, there are songs like this, and their whole goth thing. but the majority of their songs seem to be love songs, or they at least sound happier than the person singing them looks.

A lot of their songs are really poppy too! I know I have a photo somewhere of me dressed up as Robert Smith (the singer guy) probably at Mums, I'll have to dig it out.

He obviously had make-up on, but I guess they didn't think it would look good to zoom on him or something. They did close ups of other members of the band, and other lead singer's of all the other bands that performed at that concert. So, obviously there must have been some reason.

I was just reading that Smith started singing poppier songs cause he wasn't super comfortable with the goth label, and that, yes, their pre-80s albums are far more depressing.
