Green Day in the top 10 is the worst.

The more I listen to Menomena, the more they're budging into my top 3 of 2012.

I still need to check that out. Not because of you, Mikal, let's make that clear.

Sometimes the things you say online remind me of one of my good friends in the real world. He's one of the funniest people I know. So you should take that as a compliment.

Anyway, listening to Lonerism after giving it a break for a couple weeks. And holy shit, still so very amazing! Easy number one for me.

Since Cobbler's not around to post this, here's the year-end list from FasterLouder. It's basically just a bunch of Aussie albums amidst the usual cliche international picks, but at least Alpine's at #10: Top 50 Albums of 2012

Rush on a metal list, really? Really? And ugh, I can't believe people listen to that Diablo Swing Orchestra gimmick shit (I say this on the basis of their previous stuff, having no desire to hear the new album).

But wow, I really have drifted away from metal this year. The only two albums I've heard on that list are Alcest and Converge (both good picks, especially Alcest) and I've been meaning to get around to the Krallice and Enslaved albums. Didn't know there's a new Panopticon album; might have to get onto that.

Surprised they didn't include Ne Obliviscaris or Atoma, and if fucking Rush count, so does Om's cool new album.

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

If John Mayer really made a better album this year than Beach House, I might as well just stop listening to music now.
Bruce at #1?

Crazy talk.

They'll have to do something pretty amazing to achieve that for me.

The amazing thing would be actually releasing an album.

But they're my thoughts, too. What the hell? How can we all have the same thoughts? Hive mind? Borg? WTF?

It's a good album, but best of the year? That's ridiculous.

In 20 years only The Rising has come close to classic status and even that album has some missteps.

I think I have it at 4th right now.

The Rising is probably my 4th or 5th favorite STEEN album, but it's pretty closely followed by Magic.
