Such is the life of a Manics fan in the US. Importing their records can be expensive, a time-consuming pain in the ass, or both.

And the same goes for year-end lists. People here just don't know about them.

Finally listened to the album. I love it.

Sonically, it's a pleasure to listen to. The sounds are warm and rich and...interesting. I don't think the Manics have really recorded anything like it before. Nicky's lyrics capture perfectly the unique juxtaposition of angst, nostalgia, and surrender that middle age brings. It's also a really cohesive record; not a song out of place.

Mofo, I agree with Vlad that you're not missing anything by skipping Postcards. But you've gotta get this one. It's a beautiful, lush record, thematically reminiscent of Lifeblood, but with a deeper sound. I think you'd like it.

Unfortunately for many people (too many) the album being similar to Lifeblood is a negative thing.

I think Tokyo Skyline is quite special.

Oh my. This album just keeps getting better and better.

The title track might just be the saddest song I've ever heard.

I think you're right. Wish they'd come back to the US. It was so special to see them.

Just bought Postcards from a Young Man
blown away
Great album - I love James Dean Bradfields voice

I bypassed Journals as i'm not a massive fan of the Richie era. Will check out Rewind the Film soon.

Manics = last great British band standing
