Zappa vs Scott Walker

Ok, so in a Rush thread that got off topic by yo-yo's, the name Frank Zappa came up as being the GREATEST COMPOSER OF ALL-TIME.

Some said Beethoven and Mozart and while that maybe true, let's stick with pop music.

Not sure if Zappa should be in thos matchup but for the sake of time we'll say he is.

He faces Scott Walker, known as the most influential yet enigmatic rock star ever.

Zappa vs Walker....GO!

p.s. Thos thread is dsicussing GREATEST COMPOSER....not greatest sports teams or what a FACT is versus an OPINION. Let's talk about music. Not saying don't throw out names you think should be in the dconversation, but don't make this about stupid stuff like who is uglier or what dude has a larger man-loin.

Isn't this a spin-off thread?

Best composer? I'm surprised that there's even any question--for me, it's easily and by light years Zappa.

I'm not much of a fan of either man's oeuvre, but ol' Frank was and remains a stunningly diverse, multi-talented, and inventive composer. His work with the synclavier alone (Jazz From Hell) could almost seal the deal. Like it or hate it, he covered a lot more stylistic and ideological ground and also had higher highs (1] and hella-lower lows; ...and 2] in my opinion, of course) than Walker has, so far.

Also, he accidentally inspired Sgt. Pepper's, which I figure must say something about the strength of his work. He also wrote, amongst seriously thousands of other things, "Peaches En Regalia," which is very nearly a perfect composition, formally speaking. No contest.

I don't read what people post above me, especially when hilarious pictures of Mozart are involved.

That being said, I'd go with Zappa, but I'd also through in Brian Wilson or Lennon/McCartney or something.

I just put 2 and 2 together and realized the same guy who a few years ago told us all how terrible of taste we have for not thinking Scott Walker is the most amazing musician of all time is the same guy making threads about Rush and Zappa now. Sweet irony.

Known by whom? You?

The premise of this thread is just absolutely fucking hilarious...

Everything from how it started to you saying "KNOWN as the most influential" and only putting a video of Walker on not Zappa...

But all hilarity aside, if it came down to Zappa vs Walker.

Zappa by miles.
