Hell, like I said, the niche lists did really well this time around. If your metal list has the flow and the songs are good. Who knows !

Anyway, I digress. Great improvement for you.

The fact you liked Real Niggaz Don't Die goes down as a great achievement for cobl04.

Holy shit, sixth? When was the last time I placed that high? DI II, I think.

Very happy, glad people evidently enjoyed the list a fair amount.

This. I think this might have been my favorite Axver playlist which is really saying something.

DI II all the way. That list is still probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite DI list ever. Somewhere mixed in with GAF and Mr. V's DI6 lists.

I've made half of it with "listenability" in mind, i.e. stuff that I think a non-metal fan might find accessible and interesting to some extent. It's got some artists that have done reasonably well here in the past, like Alcest and Jesu and Russian Circles.

The other half is meant to illustrate the more extreme side, so I guess the fact it's alienating is the point anyway. I'm very curious to see how it goes.

Hopefully by the time DI IX rolls around, I'll have the flow fairly nailed.

I think this is one of the best lists Axver has put together. Though I do find it hilarious that when I start getting into Porcupine Tree is when it's utterly absent from your list.

I could've squeezed in one of Steven Wilson's side projects, but I wanted to make a point of having nothing in any way connected to Porcupine Tree (similarly, I avoided doing the same with Neil Finn/Crowded House).

A Trick of the Light

With this list, I'm just glad that I got it done, if you all like it, that's even better. It's probably my most cohesive list, and I enjoy it a lot. It's very indicative of what I've been listening to in the last year, above anything else, which is what I love so much about DI. Each list I make seems to catch me in the middle of some strange transitional period, and nailing down what I like, even for myself, becomes quite the task.

And of course, since I've never been happier in all of my life, this is probably the most depressing list I've made yet. What can I say, there's a reason I like The National. Have fun!

While she had no 1sts, Ashley racked up four 2nd places and a few more Top 5s.

Glad Ashley cracked the top five! A very, very close second on my rankings.
