What was the best Christmas gift you received as a young'un?

Aside from board games, books and anything related to The Snowman I loved my Cricket doll:

Commodore 64:

and the Lolo ball:

Mine was a Chatty Cathy doll. And the board game "The game of Life". Then later a 10 speed bike.

I've had larger, more expensive gifts--but the one that absolutely stands out the most is the one from Christmas '84.

Inside the nondescript box above, was this….

I loved that thing! It had an amazingly rich sound, featured shortwave radio, and went everywhere with me in the summer. Sadly, it all ended in one of those summers—perhaps the fifth one. My mom sold it in a flea market while I was visiting friends outside the province…apparently, she assumed I’d stopped using it, because at that point I also had a newer stereo. I was crushed! It was like returning home and finding out that the dog you grew up with had vanished, or was scooped up by a pasty-faced stranger.

Great memories, though. I really got into U2 (and music, in general) thanks to my portable, albeit clunky, friend...

I always wanted a skateboard or roller skates. My mom thought they'd be too dangerous and/or I might hurt myself

Hanukkah 1983 was the best. My siblings and I got an Atari game system plus a few games. I also got a huge stuffed Snoopy complete with a sweater and hat set. I refused to play with dolls growing but Snoopy was the shit so I had Snoopy everything (I still do ).
