"The sky's full of felines"...I love that one, it conjures up such a vivid and ridiculous image!

I read Answer Guy's dissection of the album the other day, and laughed out loud at his total trashing of "A Man and a Woman".
I love that song, but his comments were just so funny. At the end, he suggests that Bono is singing "Lucy", as in Ricky Ricardo saying, "Lucy, I'm home", and adds "Bono's got some 'splainin' to do".
But seriously, what IS Bono singing at the end of that song?
Lucy? You'll see? Something meaningless in Bongolese?

I'm ready to duck, I'm ready to dive,
I'm ready to say, I'm glad to be alive!"

always thought it was "I'm ready to duck, I'm ready to die..."
because of the alive line following it

in Please:
until you crossed the line of grave
insted of
line of grace

... scaring...

in "like a song"
Instead of "Honestly what you want" -- I heard "not a string what you want"...

My favourite misheard lyric so far has got to be:

It's a beautiful day
the sky's full of felines.

:D

Hehe. I always thought it was "sky falls a feline" (i presumed he was on about the shapes of the clouds or something!). During EBTTRT I cant help but add the "Is it art or is it pornography?" line from the video.

lol to that first person who made this topic, i didn;t what the hell HMTMKMKM was,lol soemtimes something is too long for appravations, lol i think i heard some of the same stuff in "untill the end", incorrectly just the ones metioned above.

The falsetto right at the end?
I always thought that was just a "woah haaaaa-aah" random falsetto singing. Vacant heart? Will listen to the song again with that in mind...

I'm pretty sure it's not vacant heart. Bono often has what he calls scat singing on a lot of his songs and they're not notated because they're not discernible words or phrases, but they fit that part of the song. I love these as a matter of fact.

The end of One is a great example. Even though it's scat singing, I always sing along with "make it, make it...ahhhhh"

Another example is the end of Original of the Species right before oh my my. Or, Wild Honey right after or is there sweetness at all.

Okay, it gets worse:

Stay (Faraway, So Close!)

You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans
London, Belfast, Anne Boleyn .

it's called scat singing, yeah, but we can also pretend it's Bono who "spoke with the tongue of angels"...

The mistakes I can remember are in Stay, at the very end: "just the band and the claddagh" instead of "the bang and the clatter", and in Original of the Species at the beginning: "the end is not as far as the stars" instead of "the end is not as fun as the start".
Actually I like my versions better, much more poetic, no?

On first listens I thought he said "guilty" twice, now I think it's "you'll see".

I also heard "claddagh" and I agrere that your version is very poetic :p

Sometimes I think U2 should ask the fans to check the lyrics before recording the songs! The misheard lyrics are so interesting!!

Ok, here's another one: I've just found out that the chorus of Mercy is "love hears when I lie" and not "love heals when I die/lie". I've spent the whole day wondering what this last sentence could mean!!

I also thought it was "I hear you talk/ I feel nothing" and not "I heel, you toe/ I fear nothing".

AAARRGGHH you lot! That's highly amusing, but it's ruined a very poignant verse for me... brought tears to my eyes. Now I cackle like a mad hen whenever I hear it thanks to you going on about the cat! :eeklaugh:

:lmao:
this was, indeed, one of the best posts! I know I must have some examples but I can't think of any at the moment! plus, I'm anal, and if I sing one thing and the next time I hear the song, I hear something else, I run to check the lyrics, but I do still sing whatever I hear from time to time!

 In Original of the Species I used to think it was "the end is not as far as the start".... :der:

Another one from me:
From Miracle drug

"I wanna trip inside your HAIR"...

Now, considering that Bono changed a lot of hairdos during his career, maybe my version can work, can't it?
