Jennifer Lawrence attempts to go incognito behind her handbag as she leaves Coldplay concert after Chris Martin 'serenades' her

Since being romantically linked earlier this year, they've been going to great lengths to keep their relationship under wraps.

And things were no different on Wednesday night, when Jennifer Lawrence, 24, was seen leaving a concert by Coldplay, the popular band fronted by her rumoured beau Chris Martin, 37.
The Oscar-winning actress made it clear that she didn't want to be seen leaving the show, holding a black leather handbag over her face while leaving Los Angeles' Ace Hotel through a back exit.

I have done nothing to get banned. I simply stated, and other people agreed, Coldplay tried to steal the U2 sound. A lot of this was at the direction of JZ and a few other produces.

I never said, I thought they were successful with it. It was good ordinary mediocre music which is as good as Coldplay ever gets.

Bono then panicked for some reason with the U2 sound and tried to shovel it into the direction of sounding like Coldplay. It was a dumb move.

Lots of people on this site say they can't hear it.

Fine.

But that is what happened.

Chris Martin has certainly traded up though from Gwyneth to JenLaw. She is sweet as tasty pie.:love::love:

Expect ColdPlays next album to be their best ever now Chris is loved up again.:heart::heart:

10 love songs dedicated to JenLaw. And perhaps a guest appearance by the Oscar award winner in some of the vids.:hyper:

After all, cross promotion is what the industry is all about.:applaud:

But don't worry, it is not like U2 ever do any Grandstanding!

Now Bono is going to save the music industry.

Bono: U2 free album delivery was 'punk rock', now I'll save the music industry

U2's charismatic frontman Bono has defended Apple's controversial spam-like delivery of the band's 13th album to 500 million iTunes in 119 countries users as a "punk rock" and says it worked worked because it irritated people and got noticed.
Now Bono has told Time magazine that he's working with Apple on an even bigger project: a new file format that could save the music industry. The band's 14th album will be delivered on the new format.

He told Time: "[it will be] an audiovisual interactive format for music that can't be pirated and will bring back album artwork in the most powerful way, where you can play with the lyrics and get behind the songs when you're sitting on the subway with your iPad or on these big flat screens. You can see photography like you've never seen it before."

Speaking earlier to BBC2 presenter Jo Whiley, Bono said he wanted to deliver Songs of Innocence to users whether they wanted it or not was because he considered it U2's job to "stir things up a bit".
"That was kind of why you got into a band, to stir things up and annoy people," Bono said. "That's the whole punk rock thing... the only thing that could have gone wrong would have been being ignored."
The upload, which happened worldwide last Wednesday, was far from ignored. The album has been played 38 million times (although that includes any playback) and drew a huge polarising response, especially in social and conventional media.
It was derided by several high-profile figures including rapper Tyler the Creator and celebrity Sharon Osbourne while Jimmy Kimmel ran a segment on his hit TV show in which the band Fall Out Boy helped passersby delete the album. Several music industry figures and commentators panned it as devaluing music and others speculated the band's brand could be damaged. Salon.com called U2 "the most hated band in America".
Writing on dailydot.com, Nico Lang called U2 "the new Nickelback", which is about as uncool a comparison as is possible.
Kimmel noted the irony of people being upset by the gift of legal music when so many people were downloading music illegally: "poor Bono's weird sunglasses are soaked with tears right now".
Purists might disagree the album launch was punk because the band was paid a large (but unspecified) sum and will benefit from an Apple marketing campaign worth an estimated $US100 million ($112 million). But by many punk definitions Bono is right: the strategy was U2 and Apple doing what they wanted against many people's wishes with chaotic results. Not that his latest claim has earned new fans. Steve Conte, former lead guitarist for The New York Dolls called the album release "corporate rock".

Apple did however then perform a not-very-punk damage limitation move by creating a tool to explain to iTunes users how they could delete the album.
But whether it lived up to the standards of what punk is according to one of the genre's great tragic martyrs - The Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious - is for you to decide. Vicious advised: "Undermine their pompous authority, reject their moral standards, make anarchy and disorder your trademarks. Cause as much chaos and disruption as possible but don't let them take you alive."

There was a time when I was younger I'd travel to Dublin quite frequently. And being young and stupid, I'd mention U2 to every taxi driver and bartender I'd come into contact with. This is when I would ask foolish things like which pubs did they hang out in (answer: the bad ones).

Anyway, to a person the reaction was generally something along the lines of "The other three are nice lads, but Bono's a wanker". The other thing is, everyone in Dublin claims to know someone who knows Bono. And they all say that they all say that he's a wanker.

I guess my point is, as U2 fans we eat up stuff like "Bono wants to save the music industry". A good deal of the rest of the world read stuff like that and thinks "wanker". All that is part of the reason for all the U2 hate, I believe.

As for me? Well let me say for the record that I think Bono is a perfectly nice man and not a wanker.

I preface this by says as I type this I am listening to Songs of Innocence on my Apple I-phone so you can see where my allegiances lie. But I often wonder if Bono has ever done everything for real; or if every single part of his act and all his actions on and off the stage are really just to increase record/album/single sales.:hmm:

The rest of the world questions that too.

Hence the consistent feeling by those who are not obsessed by U2's music that:-

BONO is a Wanker!

Dude, this here is textbook trolling. Making outlandish statements in hopes to piss people off and elicit a negative response to say the least.

I am not trolling. It is all in your mind. I am simply posting in a thread whose heading is "Why do people hate U2?" with possibilities of ideas. I didn't create the thread. If you don't like the thread, then go to another thread. Or create your own thread; "Why do people love U2?". Your choice. But don't come here and abuse me. And PLZ, don't call me Dude!!!

But surely, even you MrPryck, even you would think that this is over kill.

For the second time in the band's history, U2 is on the cover of TIME magazine. The September 29, 2014, issue features a black-and-white photo of the band with the headline: The New U2 - The Veteran Rock Band Faces The Future.

TIME also has four separate U2 content pieces on its website.

"I think the opposite of love is not hate. It's apathy."
-- Bono

By this in your face operation and the APPLE launch onto every I Phone in the world, U2 are saying Love Us or Hate Us;

just don't Neglect Us or have Apathy.

Hence a lot of people are going to feel the 2nd response.

The whole Bono saves the music industry thing is nuts.

That Time article talks about a "secret project with Apple" that everyone hopes will help artists get compensated for their work.
Bono tells TIME he hopes that a new digital music format in the works will prove so irresistibly exciting to music fans that it will tempt them again into buying music -- whole albums as well as individual tracks. The point isn’t just to help U2 but less well known artists and others in the industry who can’t make money, as U2 does, from live performance.

This is just going to pish a lot of average punters off. U2 make $100 million from Apple and then say, it ain't about the money.

Don't try and BS people Bono; they can see right through you.

The Tax Havens etc.

It is about the money.

That is fine. Everyone can understand that. Just become The Fly and admit it.

You were actually cool when you used to talk the Truth.

Now Bono, now you are just lost.

You are trying to play such a politically correct game, and not offend anyone, that you have disappeared up your own a-hole.

Dear Bono,

Please become REAL again.

But the Fly was an imposter.

I am a big fan of Bono's. I admire so many things that he does. But yeah, he can come across like a bit of a "wanker" (to borrow the phrase from my friends across the pond). Sometimes, it's downright embarrassing to be a fan of his when he says something stupid. In the USA, sometimes Bono's European sense of humor / manner of speaking can put some people off. Your typical country music, redneck " 'MERICA" fan isn't going to know what the hell he's talking about half the time.

That's why U2 aren't as popular in the midwest/southern US. More hicks and rednecks who like simple songs with simple, easy to comprehend music and lyrics.

I think if I had the option of meeting all 4 members of U2, in any order I wanted, it'd go like this.

1. Edge
2. Bono
3. Adam- Closest I'll likely come to meeting a U2 member. Gave Adam a FIVE, as his car was leaving the stadium in East Lansing after the show. He had his window down, and I barely even had time to react. I was on the sidewalk as his car pulled out of the parking lot, and I just reach out my hand, and he had a bemused smile as he begrudgingly stuck his hand out to slap mine. The other band members cars pulled out after his, but none of their windows were down, although I could see Bono in the car give us a peace sign. Cool little story. The whole thing lasted about 20 seconds.
4. Larry

I hope I didn't offend anybody, I was sort of joking. I speak from experience, living in rural Ohio. The only kind of music that flies around here is country. If Jason Aldean comes into town, my Facebook is littered with pics of people from the concert. Bruce Springsteen came into town a couple months ago, and it wasn't even sold out (Nationwide Arena in Columbus), and I only know 2 people that went to that concert, and one of them was with me! Columbus is also one of the cities U2 didn't fully sell out on Elevation, with the seats behind the stage being curtained off (still the best concert I've ever seen).

Columbus also has a large hipster community based around OSU, and I have a friend who lives downtown and says U2 is like a dirty word around there.

U2 have had their time.

And it was a great time. They were undisputed world champions for a long, long, long time.

We could go the distance.

We had a killer punch.

But like a pug boxer who has taken one too many punches and doesn’t know when to retire.

Not only that; their supporters and younger, stronger and louder than ours are.

It is a tough battle; against people who don’t even want to listen.

U2 have managed to keep a hardcore fanbase of 2-4 million worldwide fans since about 1984 when Unforgettable Fire came out. No other band that is still making new music has been able to even come close to that.

May I also state that the 360 Tour not only was well attended but also is the highest grossing tour in music history.

I think they are still having their time. They arent playing a Las Vegas casino yet because they are needing of the money ;)

360 was also the highest attended in history (7.2 million was it?)

Young Tweeters dont know what is a u2

^ Ungrateful brats! Its time to get them paddles out folks! its time for a kids spanking! :hmm:

Im 28 and got into u2 in the year 2000 so i was 14/15 at the time. Everyone knew who u2 were at school, u2 were everywhere at the time so it was hard to not know them. There were a fair few kids at school who liked them aswell.

I think the same happened in 2004 with the ipod advert and vertigo. That was the last appeal to younger people. Nloth and the 360 tour did nothing for appealing to younger people.

Which ever way you look at it now, they know who u2 are!

There is saying about the Irish(as quoted by Bono): "a person drives past a huge mansion on the top of a hill and they say ,"one day I'm going to be like that guy". An Irishman drives past that same house and says "one day, I'm gonna get that guy""

With that said, I think we are all guilty to some extent of judging Bono through "U2 colored glasses". Perhaps he's a wanker....perhaps not. Bottom line, he is on a kick ass band.

Does Bono really think he or his music is punk?

He's said it so many times that I'm starting to think he actually, truly believes it.

There is nothing remotely punk about the band these days, nor has there probably since October. Not that that's a bad thing of course, but if he's going to call himself then I may as well call myself a socialite.

I live in Texas and see this first hand. This is spot on.

I don't think there can be any doubt that Bono is a WANKER..

For those of us who love U2s music we have always turned a blind eye to it because of the quality of the music.

When Bono was young we excused it because of the petulance of youth.

Bono actually used it to his advantage during The Fly days.

But there is nothing as bad as an OLD WANKER..

Society doesn't accept that.

Especially the young kids.

They see right through it.

Its a shame that he has to talk about Punk like any of the kids in the feral areas of the world who really buy the music or download it; even understand what Punk really is!

U2 haven't been punk since WAR!

U2 have been trying to chase commercial acceptability for 10 years now rather than just make awesome records..

Just stop it Bono.

As if being paid $100 million to produce an album for Apple is punk.

Stop trying to convince everyone you are here to save music!

Tweeters don't know who U2 is: "Who the f*ck is U2?"

287080_Screen_Shot_2014_09_19_at_12_09_34_pm_591w.png
People were pretty pissed when they discovered the new U2 album magically downloaded to their phones the other week, and with good reason; it's freaking creepy that Apple can download whatever they like directly onto users' devices. But while the Internet raged over an unwanted album, a contingent of young people were left wondering the big questions: "who the fuck is U2?"
They may have once been "the biggest band in the world", but that was obviously a long time ago with a whole crop of youngens having no idea who they are.
The Tumblr Who Is U2 is dedicated to the stream of tweets asking this question, which is full of confused rage and non-sensical sentences from people presumably born after 1995.
Scrolling down the tumblr feed, I was hoping, just hoping, there would be some kid who knew what a U2 Spy Plane was, but still have no idea about the band. No luck so far, but a girl can dream.
