Solo careers and side projects?

I've never liked solo projects from U2 to be honest.
I feel they are a special band because they are only good with the rest of the band. I don't think Edge sounds that great playing with other bands, same goes for Adam, Larry, and anything Bono has done outside the band hasn't been remotely as good as most of what the band does. It's that bond that makes them a better band I always thought.

It's fantastic.

There is a lot of SOLO stuff out there that Bono did and I like, and also some duets.

Is Bono/Edge stuff also considered side projects? Then I have to say I like most of that, too, because I'm really into accoustic stuff.
