Sounds like the Redskins/FedEx peeps need to be schooled on U2.com's camera policy!

I'd hate to get to the front of the line and be told by the one, angry, by-the-book, arrogant security personnel that cameras are not allowed while everyone else gets in.

Ahhh, gotta luv the clusterf*ckiness of it all!

well it's true about the verizon center and it's wackiness with cameras. I was there for greenday and they said no cameras. I was able to get mine in but trying to take pictures of the show the security flashed their lights into my camera and I was in the pita area. You could take away with your phone but no cameras at all. Heck I bet you could use one of those flip hd cameras because it looked like a cell phone. But if they saw it was a camera they told you to put it away. HOpefully security isn't like that at fed ex.

I took pics and video at Verizon without any hassle, and I was one person from the rail. I think it's just poor communication among everybody.

For Springsteen, they flashed their lights at me too (at Verizon) because I had a small dslr. The head of security then escorted me out of my row, told me to delete my photos in front of him, and take the camera to my car (I could then come back in). I was able to recover the deleted photos later though.

Dunno. My policy is based on the "fact" that thousands of us have taken our cameras into shows over the years. And, seems like FedEx peeps are being jerks about this. I emailed their "contact us" link and got a reply right away, which I was shocked about, (guess the Redskins need to be extra customer service oriented these days ), "There are no cameras allowed inside the stadium for tomorrow’s concert."

So....

So....

I see a lot of people stuffing their cameras down their pant aka ME

was the security guy an older guy? he seems to be the one that takes his job way too seriously as he does all the local area secruity and yelled at me for oasis at the patriot center.

Wow, that's ridiculous. I still plan on taking my point-and-shoot.

Point and Shoot Batteries are charging

Wow, that's ridiculous. I still plan on taking my point-and-shoot.

^ Agreed. I was @ Giants 2 show. Pre-entry the recording says no cameras. I brought a point and shoot and tripod. No problem.

While Giants may be more liberal about cameras, one must also concede that what the "official" policy is and what the venues end up doing are sometimes miles apart.

I'll be printing U2 photo policy and bringing it in pocket.

was the security guy an older guy?

Yeah - he had a different color shirt from the regular sec. guys.

Wow, that's ridiculous. I still plan on taking my point-and-shoot.

Same here. Wanted to bring my dslr in, but it's not worth it to try. As I mentioned earlier, they had the same website page up for McCartney a couple months ago. But they allowed small cameras in after all, and people posted pics to flickr, etc afterward.

I've been to a fewplaces where they didn't stop cameras coming in but did the penlights flash in theeyes at anyone using a camera. The people doing it are Nazi-like about it to the point that they are more distracting than anyone with a camera. One show-not u2- said pics ok but not video so if you held the camera up too long to focus, here comes the light in your eyes and security accusing you of taking video. It was nuts. Those guys are on some power trip.

Going with the wife, can't wait. Looks like its going to be a chilly night with temps in the fifty's and wind blowing pretty good.

Get There - The Week Ahead For Traffic, Transit

The Week Ahead For Traffic, Transit

I'm going to start with the U2 concert at FedEx on Tuesday night at the newsmaker for traffic this week, but there's plenty of activity all across the region.

U2 May Be Stuck in Traffic
If you notice extra heavy traffic heading home on the Beltway, Landover Road or Central Avenue on Tuesday night, blame the band. The concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at FedEx Field in Landover.

The concerts draw thousands of people who are unfamiliar with the roads and parking around the football stadium. Concert-goers, check the map and other advice we offered on our Commuter page before the Redskins home opener this month.

The Arena Drive exit from the Capital Beltway is now open full time. But Maryland highway officials say the Route 214 exit (Central Avenue) tends to be less crowded than other exits.

Best Bet: Take Metrorail to and from the Morgan Boulevard Station on the Blue Line. The station is a little less than a mile south of the stadium. Normally, the last train out of there would leave at 11:25 p.m. on a week night, but Metro is going to keep the station open till 1 a.m. to help the post-concert crowd.

Riders will be able to transfer from those extra Blue Line trains to the other lines, but Morgan Boulevard will be the only station admitting passengers after the regular midnight closing time.

Beltway Closing in Tysons
This is likely to cause major delays: The outer loop of the Capital Beltway will close at I-66 Monday through Thursday nights starting at 9:30 p.m. Traffic will detour to westbound I-66, then loop around and come back to the Beltway. The ramp from westbound I-66 to the outer loop also will close. Here's a map showing the detour.

Dulles Rail
Traffic will be delayed during the day in Tysons Corner along the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267), the Dulles International Airport Access Road, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) for utility relocations that are part of the Metrorail extension.

I-95 Overnight Closings for Connector
The Maryland State Highway Administration will temporarily close all lanes of I-95 between Route 198 and Route 212 for 15-minute intervals overnight. The closings will repeat periodically through the spring as the state builds three bridges over I-95 for the Intercounty Connector.

Less Parking at Franconia-Springfield
Starting Thursday, there will be several hundred fewer parking spaces at the station, because Metro is beginning a rehabilitation project scheduled to last 18 to 20 months.

Park for free in the Macy's parking area at the Springfield Mall, at the Backlick Park and Ride, or at the Gambrill Park and Ride. Ride the Fairfax Connector to Metro stations.

Starting today, the Fairfax Connector has made a route change on Route 380 designed to help commuters during the disruption.

So what's the verdict on the cameras?

Someone got a link to the U2 camera policy?

Should I try and hide my camera?

Did you recently get an email w/ parking and other policies? If not, the FedEx field website should be helpful, but the camera thing still might be conflicting...:hmm:

Yeah, I did. I saw something on U2.com about GA policies though. I guess that's the one.

If anyone gets any new info about cameras? share.

If anyone knows where the camera policy on U2.com is? share.

Please. Thanks.

Stoked to be going- bringing two first timers and I myself haven't seen the lads in 8 (!) years. Because of my timing, got tickets out in Sec. 329, row 2. Anyone know these digs?

Otherwise, I am now living in the area and can give my verdict after reading all comments. Go outrageously early. Bring food, and be happy to be with fans. When leaving, be careful and try hunting backstreets- but be cautious and use a Garmin because it's not the most wonderful neck of the woods.

Outside of that, I'll defer to the masses here- Metro is fine, but for me it would require a transfer I may not be able to make so I'll be driving. Leaving work at 3 originally, but after reading this will now be planning on leaving around 1. Thanks to all of you for the advice- hope to see many of you there!!!!! Listen for the British accents and the awkward American with them

GA Line has started. Enter the Gray Lot from Brightseat Road. Access is off of Landover Road Route 202. If you can't find it ask the cop(s) that are holding down Fed Ex Field. BTW there are 40 people on the list. Look for a Pink Bunny on top of the car in the parking lot and sign up with Jesus Matt & PopBellyDancer.

Matt and I and a couple others are doin the list, come sign up and roll call is at 8 am so you have to be back by then. This is an unsafe neighborhood, the cops were nice and stressed that we all stay together here in gray lot. The head of venue security has signed off on our list_ and said parking at 8 am is only at gray lot. Supposedly as of now othere lots will not open til 12 pm; or 3pm. Melissa 323 333 2208
