Rap lyrics in concerts at end of MOS

I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'm undecided. If I knew why he was doing it, I might understand and like it better.

    NLOTH song

That's kind of where I was going with that. They've favored at least five songs (GOYB, GGCIIDCT, Breathe, Magnificent, MOS) over NLOTH since they've started promoting the album and doing live performances. On the tour, they sing it like it's an afterthought. Will it ever be released as a...

    NLOTH song

Upon hearing NLOTH album the first time seven months ago or so, I absolutely LOVED the song NLOTH. Seven months later it is still my favorite song on the album...by far. Why is it not catching on in popularity? Also, Breathe is the worst song on the album...by far. It's awful. And I hated...

    SHFWILF with Grace snippet

This would be a cool concert idea. Still Haven't Found running into a Grace snippet with the SHFWILF guitar riff going in the background the words Grace, she takes the blame She covers the shame Removes the stain It could be her name Grace, it's a name for a girl It's also a thought that...

Rap lyrics in concerts at end of MOS

What are the words? What do they mean? Why is Bono doing it? I've googled around and I think I have the answer to #1 but not even close to #2 or #3.

    Breathe lyrics meaning?

This seems most logical. I wonder if he meant by "coming from a long line of traveling sales people on my mother's side" = my mother's side of the family is religious fanatics and/or preachers.

You don't know how beautiful you are

Is this purposefully related to "Oh you look so beautiful tonight" in COBL? If so, is there a link between the two songs or a link between COBL and NLOTH album? Or is this just a generic lyric with no relation between the two songs?

    NLOTH song lyrics

The traffic cop in rue de Marais is obviously the same the same character in Being Born. Any other insight into this character or the lyrics? Is he also the one dreaming the same dream hatching some scheme (escaping and going AWOL back home to Morocco)? What does "hole in her heart" mean re...

    Unknown Caller

I like that. I think the force quit/move to trash is a beautiful metaphor for the atonement, whether looked at in aggregate as your wife suggests or in an individual's life.

Moment Of Surrender is overrated thread

MOS is not in my top 5 in the album. Int the entire U2 collection, it doesn't make my top 50. If that means it's overrated, then I think it's overrated. The chorus just kills me. I imagine the boys standing in a line like a goofy boy band dancing side to side in unison with a leg kick and...

Someone explain Unknown Caller to me

See my explanation of the lyrics in the Goal is Soul forum for one perspective. I find the technology metaphor to be very poetic and beautiful.

    Unknown Caller appreciation thread

I put my analysis of this song in the Goal is Soul forum. I believe the best way to interpret the song is to imagine all the chorus/harmony as the voice of God, with the Bono solo words as the voice of the main character of the song. Looking at "Force quit and move to trash" as being God's...

    NLOTH Biblical References:

I wasn't familiar with that hymn, but I just listened to it online, and it's very obvious they're using the chorus part. Very subtle and very beautiful.

    Unknown Caller

After reading UAME's explanation of the "My Savior's Love" I added this. addendum I just discovered the final 1:30 of the song including Edge's guitar solo is taken from the hymn "My Savior's Love". This adds even more meaning to the song. This implies an alternate interpretation for the final...

    NLOTH Biblical References:

Thanks! I just posted my analysis on Unknown Caller, but it would have helped my understanding more had I read your explanation on the "My Savior's Love" tidbit. Do you discover that yourself, or did you read the explanation somewhere?

    Unknown Caller

I put this on songmeaning dot net. What do you think? My interpretations of the song: This is a beautiful worship song portraying an intimate experience with God. The song is nonlinear. It is looking back at an event with narration spliced through the event. It's easier to understand by...

The first U2 song where you "got it"

I grew up in the 80's and liked the popular U2 songs from UF and JT. I lost interest when they went through Zoo and Pop phase. Then I got obsessed with the song Bad hearing it on alternative radio station regularly, which I never noticed as a teen in the 80's. That got me back into U2.

P.S. I missed a lot but that covers it. But another part I love though it's very short is the Hands that Built America snippet. Aaaaaaaamerica.

    Vertigo Tour DVD

I downloaded this, split off the audio, and made files for each song recently. Over the past couple months I've listened to it over 100 times (itunes count). I'm still digging it. I keep discovering new elements I like. City of Blinding Lights -- gotten a little boring but love the energy...

    UTEOTW Ethics and Aesthetics

I understand the Jesus/Judas Iscariot thing. And also the Jesus/Devil thing. But when the guy referred to aesthetics and ethics, I thought it was looking at it through a different angle. As I understand, Aesthetics and Ethics in the philosophical sense is form vs function. With that view, I...

    UTEOTW Ethics and Aesthetics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkee9RQPqYE&NR Those of you that are more educated than I am in philosophy, can you help explain this comment? "Does anyone else see the representation of the internal battle waged between a person's Aestetics and Ethics so vividly put forth at the end of this...

What are your most spiritually significant U2 songs?

There are many for me. Gloria "the door is open, you're standing there, you let me in." "Oh Lord if I have anything, anything at all, I...give...it...to...you." Yahweh Beautiful song, I made a long post on this site on this song. Love the intimate and honest request for Savior to fix what's...

The First Time--I threw away the key

I'd like to find a copy of a time he sang it that way and add it to my U2 Faith collection. I just heard a version of Bad with First Time embedded in the middle that was amazing, but Bono sings "I threw away the key...for love" in that one and then goes back and forth with the audience on LOVE...

    Bad vs UTEOTW live

Bad is my favorite song of all time, no matter the band, followed by Pictures of You by the Cure and Message in a Bottle by the Police. Live it's incredible. My favorite is the Live Aid marathon version. UTEOTW is a great song and live it rocks, but nothing compared to Bad.
