U2 Come Full Circle as 360 Degree Tour Launches in Barcelona

Melissa, the girl on stage, organized the GA for the first show in Barca and I spent some time chatting with her--super nice person who spent hours and hours in line. She was also near me in the GA in Hawaii, and couldn't have been nicer. Do you all really think that Bono gets "monopolized" by...

    U2 Research, Part II

Thanks so much. Sadly I won't make that show but I'd be happy to share results of the study once the data are analyzed, in case you want to share the info on your website. I flew into Gothenburg a while back and I was looking around the airport thinking I'd never seen better looking people...

    U2 Research, Part II

Hey, everyone, thanks so much for the responses, and for the offers of translating (got a PM right after I posted so that got settled fast) and for the offers of participating. The study will explore differences in attitudes about queuing according to nationality, and there is a chance I'll...

Hi Amsterdam Concert-goers, I'll be attending both shows and am collecting data for a research paper on queuing attitudes in a number of different countries. I will be in the queue distributing surveys, so I hope you'll take a few minutes to participate! The first phase of the study was...

Native Dutch Speaker Needed for Translation

Hi Everyone, I'm conducting academic research on queuing attitudes at several locations in Europe, including Amsterdam. I am seeking a qualified person to translate a 5 page survey into Dutch. Payment is $50.00 U.S. The survey is part of an ongoing study on queuing, first published in the...

    U2 Research, Part II

Hi Plebans, I will be collecting data at several concerts in Europe this summer on fan attitudes about queuing. This is a follow-up to a study that was published last year in the Journal of Applied Social Psychology. For a brief (but not completely correct) synopsis see: BPS RESEARCH DIGEST...

Holding a place in the GA line

 that would be priceless--but those guys have what I call "marginal hygiene," and probably folks around them would complain...and if they leave to shower all hell could break loose

Holding a place in the GA line

Oh, I'm all for it! I don't think I'd like to be the first to try, though. Hell, why we're at it, let's get cabana boys to bring slushy drinks and set up chairs and umbrellas

Holding a place in the GA line

i went to a few shows in europe on the last tour and no one waited out overnight. i really hope that is the case. hiring human placeholders :hmm: what a concept!

Holding a place in the GA line

Indra, i do a couple of things to save my legs in the GA. During the waiting, I sit as much as possible and definitely try to have a chair. It is worth the money to have one and discard it (I hope venues take them to charity!) than to attempt to stand for endless hours. There is nothing to be...

Holding a place in the GA line

that's the one I just referenced in the above post...and yes, the research is the only "queueing research" where people care about someone cutting in line behindthem. Really unusual finding!

Holding a place in the GA line

Interesting discussion--I did a research project Vintage Punk referenced about the GA line and what fans consider "fair" and "unfair." Turns out that the more dedicated the fan (we had people self-designate that), the more they felt that turn-taking was unfair. The more casual fans didn't care...

    To my fellow UKers/Irish folk.

The Glasgow shows were great on Vertigo. Really fun fans and great crowd energy. The Dublin shows were special in a different way. Going with a fan is always more fun :)
