It's the dative object. He skips 'to' like you would in German or Latin, but it still means 'to' a boy.

Agree 100%. The melody is so instant. In my opinion it is far and away their best shot at a hit single since Vertigo. It makes Blackout seem so forgettable in comparison (although I've varmed a bit to it after repeat listens). And I'll say it again: Edge's singing is the best <3

That's nonsense. I'm not using poetic license to defend it, you guys are using prescriptivist notions of 'correct grammar' to attack it. Like the lyric or not, there shouldn't be anything wrong with messing with the argument structure of a verb to make a cute little pun.

Jesus guys are we even listening to the same song? I heard Blackout like 30 times already and I can't even recall the chorus atm. This melody is almost perfect - I agree the production is a little fuzzled but let's not get carried away, there is no way Blackout should've been the first single...

Edge's verse is pure bliss. I love it. A little overproduced, but I don't care, it's a great melody and their best single since Vertigo IMO. I just got married a week ago though, so I might be biased ;)

I love the rhythm and groove of it, the chorus is pretty cool and it's nice to hear Bono being a little political for once, but there's not enough Edge which makes this a 7/10 for me. Might change when I hear the studio version, I don't like this mix that much
