    Silversun Pickups: Carnavas

'Melatonin' is a great tune. In other words, I’m guessing that the new record may be worth a spin.

    Tom Waits Themed Dilemma(s)

That’s likely to be true. Funnily enough, you’ve pretty much reaffirmed my initial take on the ‘situation‘. Nevertheless, second opinions and all that. Cheers.

    Tom Waits Themed Dilemma(s)

In the cold light of day, I’ll regret this. Either this or the nasty things I've said regarding Jean Pierre Melville.

    Tom Waits Themed Dilemma(s)

^ Thank you! I was wondering though, whether or not his earlier escapades, although not representative of his later work, would be more accessible to traditional singer-songwriter fans. ‘partially drunken fashion’ That’s probably the important bit. Cheers though!

    Tom Waits Themed Dilemma(s)

I was wondering, and this in itself can be considered somewhat narcissistic, if not jokingly so, in an oft self deprecating, partially drunken fashion. But how, and yes I mean this, how do I convince someone that listening to Tom Waits is a good idea? Now the person in question is a good friend...

How does NLOTH compare with Viva La Vida?

I like music... No really, in general, the previous statement is true. I really like it. Although in saying that, due to market fragmentation and a supreme variety of genres, I simple cannot comprehend this thread. I like music... The discus, less so.

    Best Album of the Decade?

‘Abattoir Blues/ The Lyre of Orpheus’ It’s the only album(s) that I wouldn’t feel unerringly daft about regarding as the best of the decade. Although in truth it’s simply my favourite. ‘NLOTH’ however could end up supplying one or two of my favourite songs of the same time period. High enough...

RTÉ 2XM played the NLOTH B-Side Today (Discussion Only)

Strangely, and I do mean this, despite my having lost the desire to ever listen to GOYB again (after five or six incidental listens), I actually prefer this rather, as I’d assume, truncated version of NLOTH to the aforementioned. Although in saying that, I’ve been feeling quite strange...

When will the album leak? Part 2.

This is a weeping song, a song in which to weep… I can already feel the anticipation, initial enjoyment, and subsequent suicidal tendencies that shall soon come our way.

Just watched U2 at the Grammy's

I thought it sounded just a tad like ‘The Refugee’, but then again my hearing has been somewhat awry of late. Although in saying that, no, I couldn’t possibly… It’s a decent tune.

I do a mean Tom Waits impersonation.

"I've seen you walk unafraid" is a R.E.M. reference

Some days are better than others... On a somewhat related note though, isn't the name of that tree a reference to a U2 album? Maybe?

    MERGED--> Heath Ledger Found Dead?!?

I’m just home from watching ‘I’m Not There’ at the local art-house, and to be completely honest, his onscreen interpretation of Dylan was one of the better parts of the film. Incredibly sad news, and at that, exceptionally unexpected.

    Your Irish Name

Liam Mac an Bhaird... You know, when you actually happen to be Irish, the whole premise of this thread seems somewhat less exotic.

    A game of risk…

Yeah! But you’ll never know unless you try. Not always of course, but maybe I’m just being unseasonably optimistic.

    A game of risk…

I was just wondering as to whether or not my fellow interference goers, would describe themselves as risk takers or chance averters. As recently at least, I have found myself taking more chances, especially in regards to, well, you know. :sexywink: Either way, it’s always of interest.

Parents: what's your spin on Santa?

Yes, and while we’re at that, let’s replace him with Fifty-Cent. Now those presents would be ghetto. Have a very Rolex Christmas! It wouldn’t be that bad, if only for the inherent comedic potential. Damn those dark satanic mills.

    Oh look Edge a beachball!

As an Irishman, it was a qualification match for the 2002 World Cup. One – Nil! There I said it; I’m going to attempt to create an irreparable rift between our respective nations. Beyond that, Slane is, and was, an absolute stormer.

Bono and Edge play suprise gig in London

That’s quite a nice set-list, although I’m sure many are disappointed that they didn’t receive a double helping of Vertigo. Or maybe not. Anyhow, I’d best dust off my notebook and conduct a quick survey.
