Pledge of Allegiance and a federal court

Yes. How wonderfully ignorant and woefully righteous. Our understanding of physics, biology and anthopoligical studies have increased significantly in recent years. Many studies have in fact shown that both human and animal moral and social behavior is a natural, rational, and evolved...

Did the game of "tag" ruin your life?

Scrubby How about instead of insulating and protecting our children from the realities of life, we instead teach them to psychologically deal with them properly? Tag is sort of an extension to darwinism, in that the slower and weaker get eliminated to the faster and more powerful. And I don't...

Pledge of Allegiance and a federal court

Thoughts Well good points on both sides. I am not quite atheist, but definitely agnostic. I totally and completely agree with this particular ruling-- and seperation of church and state in general. Regardless, I do tend to give humanity and the universe we live in more credit than most. I...

What celebrities did you see at an Elevation show?

Let's not forget Kofi Annan too. I'm really surprised also at some of the list. Does anybody know at which show Mary-kate and Ashley were? Probably the LA one.

    GRAMMYS-POST ALL COMMENTS, ETC. HERE

Bono's voice was on, and larry and adam were dead on as always, but did anyone notice how edge was playing some slight variations during the chord progressions but especially during the solo? I've played the solo 100x over, so maybe it was just easy for me to pick out. Anyhow, I thought it added...

Hey Bebe - I got the very same email and when I saw your email on the list of recipients my first thought was DOH! Bebe got jacked out of tix! Well, there's always hope. Fortunately, I got two GA from another source. See ya there.

    Don't Panic! (Anthrax as Disinformation)

The author's agenda (i.e., to calm people's fears of biological warfare) is admirable, and although I feel he vilifies the media and takes Saddam Hussein too lightly, he makes some of valid points. However, I think there are two important points he fails to address 1. The psychological side of...

What are you wearing for Halloween?

halloween has all sorts strange roots, but i have always seen it as a way to recognize and even celebrate fear. Fear is a core part of our existence and perhaps its just a way to recognize that in a safe manner? Why is it that humans are always trying to purposefully (but safely) scare...

    I'm Quarantined!!

unreal, gives credence to the FBI warning yesterday... also good to see at least that local authorities are following their advice and are being "on the highest level of alert." be safe ally.

NBC employee in NYC gets anthrax

I know the FBI is being cautious in labeling this a terrorist event, but this seems highly likely to be at least related to sept. 11, whether its just some guy inspired by those events, or further terrorist attacks.. i just don't see that any of this would have happened, if the atmosphere wasn't...

How many of you kept your ATYCLB promotional downloads?

Oh how I would love to! The issue isn't space though, it's bandwidth.. I've only got a T1 to the house and it'll be saturated 24x7. I could do some traffic shaping, but 512 or 768K of bandwidth would leave me little and the mirror not enough. Now, I do have access to 25+Mbps but it's for...

Who actually expected the Webcast to go well?

I must admit to being surprised by the quality as well - usually these things are terrible. They were prolly multicasting across the mbone (multicasting backbone of the internet)and they were definitly using the NetApp caching server to cache the show The advantage to multicasting versus...

    Merchandise at shows

Oh yeah they had this suspicious pair of boxers for sale with a picture of edge grinning widely on them labeled "edgie wedgies." They looked uncomfortable beyond compare.

Is the FBI making us paranoid?

CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2001/US/10/11/inv.terror.alert/index.html "But it was a collective decision that there was enough information that we had a responsibility to remind people, and make clear that people need to be on the highest level of alert."

    Screw the covers-stick with U2...

i was put off by it at first, but the live performance was really good. don't know how long it'll last on the tour, but i wouldn't be surprised either way. as far as cover's, i personally don't like too many full ones at a show, but i adore all the little snippets thrown into u2 songs..

that would make sense, didn't edge have an eagle on his shirt during VMA?

This version of What's Goin On

agreed, i was initially put of by performing it during a show, but it turned out so well, and really fit in, so i guess i had a change of heart.

Is the FBI making us paranoid?

well, good question u2@nyc. I'm not sure, but I will guess that informing the public and local agencies might go a long way in helping respond to an incident or even help prevent it - and that may be a tradeoff they are willing to make. Better preparedness versus controlling paranoia.
