The Edge is too concerned with sounding like a well-schooled traditional guitarist. Trying to earn cred from musical corners he will never get it from. He needs to let it rip and get the effect pedals out and continue to find new colors and sounds...and lose the beanie.
Sequences are fairly standard these days, but U2 sound much more powerful without them. Listen to the New Year's Lovetown show and compare it to a 360 show.
Some folks are just in denial. If this album connected there would be more than 600,000 or so worldwide sales, since millions were exposed to it for free and the fact there's another disc and more music to hear when you buy the deluxe edition.
