Pitchfork: Album Reviews: The Dead Weather: Horehound
This review has only increased my anticipation of this album. Strange that the article reads as though the album would be a 9.0 or higher, but then grants it only a 7.5. I suppose that is Pitchfork for you.
In the end this is all that matters. When he goes to New York and you begin to root for him then all of this vitriol becomes inconsequential and self-righteous.
And please do not tell me that Dwight Howard is humble. He does well with the media, but the man also wore a bloody Superman cape. No...
You guys are all nearly pulling a hamstring jumping on Howard's bandwagon, but I am afraid that you cannot legitimately place him in the ranks of the NBA's elite. I watched Howard for nearly 15 games this postseason and never once saw him make a field goal from beyond two feet. The man is a...
I would say that the cynicism in many of the lyrics is masked by upbeat rhythms and arrangements - "Fragile Tension" is a perfect example. The music itself is still textured but not nearly as dense as Ultra; many reviewers have astutely compared the sonic structure to their earlier work...
While everyone is talking about downloading, might someone explain the legality behind downloading unofficial remixes? That is, is it legal or not? The reason I ask involves a plethora of independent remixes on YouTube with direct download links, the existence of which strikes me as rather...
Down Is the New Up is my favorite IR b-side. I still hold that it should have replaced Jigsaw on the album (then been moved to the 4 spot, dropping Arpeggi to 9).
Maybe I'm one of the few who feels that the studio version of Videotape trumps the live renditions. The studio version is a superb closer; the drum rolls and sparse arrangement evoke the resignation of the lyrics extremely well. The crescendo in the live versions - at least those that I have...
Apparently they may test some new material during the summer shows, but the source for this - Pitchfork, I believe - seemed to be interpreting Ed's comments rather liberally.
Did anyone catch the Rondo freethrow air-ball? I have never seen that before - and this is from someone who has watched quite a few games involving Ben Wallace.
I think that the Hawks would be wise to avoid taunting Wade or otherwise giving him any extra motivation, especially after what he did to them last night. I like the Heat in game 7.
I wonder why Miller did not go to the basket more aggressively. The guy is a bloody power forward, but he tries to finesse a finger-roll rather than dunk the ball. LeBron or Wade in that same situation would have torn the hoop down, leaving Rondo bleeding rather than vice-versa.
