    The Dead Weather (Jack White...)

Pitchfork: Album Reviews: The Dead Weather: Horehound This review has only increased my anticipation of this album. Strange that the article reads as though the album would be a 9.0 or higher, but then grants it only a 7.5. I suppose that is Pitchfork for you.

NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread Part 2

In the end this is all that matters. When he goes to New York and you begin to root for him then all of this vitriol becomes inconsequential and self-righteous. And please do not tell me that Dwight Howard is humble. He does well with the media, but the man also wore a bloody Superman cape. No...

NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread Part 2

You guys are all nearly pulling a hamstring jumping on Howard's bandwagon, but I am afraid that you cannot legitimately place him in the ranks of the NBA's elite. I watched Howard for nearly 15 games this postseason and never once saw him make a field goal from beyond two feet. The man is a...

    Depeche Mode

I would say that the cynicism in many of the lyrics is masked by upbeat rhythms and arrangements - "Fragile Tension" is a perfect example. The music itself is still textured but not nearly as dense as Ultra; many reviewers have astutely compared the sonic structure to their earlier work...

Interference Random Music Talk Part IV: Avoiding KNIFE CRIME for One More Sequel

While everyone is talking about downloading, might someone explain the legality behind downloading unofficial remixes? That is, is it legal or not? The reason I ask involves a plethora of independent remixes on YouTube with direct download links, the existence of which strikes me as rather...

    Radiohead Discussion Thread

Down Is the New Up is my favorite IR b-side. I still hold that it should have replaced Jigsaw on the album (then been moved to the 4 spot, dropping Arpeggi to 9).

    Radiohead Discussion Thread

Maybe I'm one of the few who feels that the studio version of Videotape trumps the live renditions. The studio version is a superb closer; the drum rolls and sparse arrangement evoke the resignation of the lyrics extremely well. The crescendo in the live versions - at least those that I have...

They are playing some festivals in Europe that may - and I stress "may" - turn into a more extensive tour.

Apparently they may test some new material during the summer shows, but the source for this - Pitchfork, I believe - seemed to be interpreting Ed's comments rather liberally.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

Did anyone catch the Rondo freethrow air-ball? I have never seen that before - and this is from someone who has watched quite a few games involving Ben Wallace.

Just so I'm up to date, what exactly is the reason for the antipathy towards Wade?

    David Bowie.

Aladdin Sane needs to be on that list as well, as does Diamond Dogs, which is woefully under-rated in my opinion.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

I think that the Hawks would be wise to avoid taunting Wade or otherwise giving him any extra motivation, especially after what he did to them last night. I like the Heat in game 7.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

I don't know - two seconds is a decent amount of time. In that situation you have to go to the basket like you mean it.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

I wonder why Miller did not go to the basket more aggressively. The guy is a bloody power forward, but he tries to finesse a finger-roll rather than dunk the ball. LeBron or Wade in that same situation would have torn the hoop down, leaving Rondo bleeding rather than vice-versa.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

Why would Boston go to Rondo for a potential game winner instead of Peirce or Allen? I cannot understand that decision. Rondo may be an emerging player, but the other two are established clutch shooters.

45 years since the Beatles' Sole Underrated Album...

In my personal opinion, "Revolver" is the sole over-rated album in The Beatles' catalogue. It is the only album whose reputation seems to be completely sacrosanct, as though every song is unassailable. That being said, I find the album to be a tremendous achievement, just not quite as brilliant...

    Depeche Mode

Upon first listen, I am incredibly impressed with this album. Gahan in particular sounds fantastic - there is a dexterity to his voice on this album that melds perfectly with almost every song.

    NBA Basketball 2008-09: The Thread

Billups has long been and continues to be the most under-appreciated player in the league. His leadership and fundamentals are as sound as anyone in the NBA.

That was a great game to start the playoffs. I am, however, fairly shocked that Pierce missed the second freethrow at the end of regulation - he is usually a tremendous clutch player.

Years Of Refusal - Morrissey - Album/Tour Discussion

Canceled? That's a shame, and the fourth or fifth time that he has already done so on this tour. I wonder if he has some lingering health issues.

    the last two cure albums

I have the impression that fans on this forum are divided regarding the quality of The Cure's last two outings. I personally find them to be sub-par - in terms of the band's ability rather than in terms of the general music scene - with a few gems hidden on each album. My feeling is that Robert...

    Depeche Mode

I gave Exciter another listen the other day, and must say that it is a stronger album than I remember. "Dream On," "Shine," and "Freelove" are great tracks, even if "Breathe" is still dreadful. Though I have not heard the new album yet, it seems as though people are describing it as a gentle...
