That's what I thought, too - most of my jeans are boot-cut, and I thought I couldn't really do skinny jeans (meanwhile, I did finally find a brand of skinny jeans that are amazing, just one size bigger than my usual). I thought the legs were too wide and my boots too tight for it to work.
Anyway, I gave it a try with some of my straight-leg jeans, and they fit into the boots just fine. Who knew?
I've also heard of just kind of doing that fold-cuff thing to tighten the ankles - that might help, if you want to give it a try!
I feel so sassy. I tend to strut around a bit when I feel sassy, outfit-wise.

I tried the fold-cuff thing from the 80's but that was too bulky. And I tried buying them a size bigger but they get all baggy around the top, and there's nothing sassy or sexy about that

Argh, jeans shopping can be so frustrating!
You know what was weird? I tried on a pair of the black skinny jeans in this brand (the Macy's plain old in-store brand, Style & Co), and they fit awesome. Looked great. Tried the exact same pair in the exact same size in the dark denim color? Looked weird and didn't have the same fit.

Sometimes if I wanna wear my jeans inside my boots I find a pair of long socks and I tuck the ends of my jeans into the socks and then put the boots on. It works to keep everything in the boots

Old Navy is the same way. you have to try on the EXACT pair you're buying. That's the only way.

I won't be able to get them till Jan ...but am looking at short bootlets in black....1 1/2 - 2inch wide heel. Not sure of i can do2 " -- 1 1/2 yes....but my ankles are actually stronger than when i was in my ealry 20's . It's the tai-chi!

(I got your PM) When these came out I went down to my usual downtown newstand and there was a whole stack of LA Times. I told the guy I needed a few extras for my friends, and he said how about you take them all. 
So yeah, I sent out a ton last Christmas. (Gg do you remember yet?) I still have a few more if anyone else wants one just say! I want to say maybe 5 or 6 so first come first serve and if I run out I'm sorry.
