I wonder if the song goes back to The Fly and ZooTV? The media adding flash to such horror and terror?

Lyrically and musically in a way it certainly does sound like it could be from back then, to me it sounds like what U2 might have recorded if Pop was a hit.

The weird thing is this sound has better production than Vertigo, despite the fact that it has more going on. Vertigo just tried to hard to be "four men" making music and came off as forced rawness (in studio), while Boots uses it's extra production really well.

Interesting thought there. :hmm:

Yeah, it certainly isn't back to the basics. It's funny that in several ways this is exactly what ETYKIW has been screaming for.

I don't get the comparisons to Vertigo and Elevation though, well I sorta do but if we're gonna include those songs we might as well compare it to Even Better Than, The Fly, Discotheque etc. Anyway lyrically it kicks Vertigo's ass and all the add stuff just makes it so great.

Seriously if the rest of the album is like this (production wise and with the experimental nature) I'm going to love it.

 guys, nearing the new thread! quickest one all year?!

I don't get that either. Especially Elevation.

I really think this is going to be a special album.

I wonder if there is just too much going on in the song for it to be a hit, you know?

... Is it? Oh come on now we can't be THAT predictable

Some variation on boots, at least.

Me too, I mean if this is the first single the rest of the album must be even crazier

I think the fact that U2 are guaranteed radio play will help, this would never be a hit for any other band (well maybe Coldplay, or Chili Peppers or someone that big) but the fact that it will be played on radio could give it a chance

 Hey John.

So - who's listened to Boots the most then?! :hyper:
